Dr. Steven L Palley, MD

I've never gotten on with this doctor. Part of it was his discourteous, disinterested, and presumptuous P.A. with whom I had to interact when I was having my worst experiences. Part of it is just him. After having two emergency room admissions due to agonizing pain in my intestines, I was finally operated on by an exceptionally skilled surgeon in no way related to Palley or NorAZGas. While in there, the surgeon discovered cancer and removed it. Before that--despite many of my best pleas for more active, involved care--he shilled Humira on me--which for all I know was what *caused* the cancer they found. The cancer had very small margins and had not spread very far. At any rate, I'm recovering from the surgery, and the best words Palley has for me are, "Well...I guess you should have made your colonoscopy appointment on time." For the record, I was supposed to get a colonoscopy every 5 years at that point. Due to a new marriage, new baby, and two back-to-back residential moves, the… time had slipped to 6 years. Regardless, it's about the poorest choice of words I've ever heard from a doctor. Subsequent visits have been civil and curt from me, just because I don't trust him as a person or a doctor. Unfortunately, the office staff--apart from being 1. chronically unavailable, 2. routinely uninformed, and 3. just unfriendly--are aggressively hostile towards patients switching doctors. I get it...sort of. But it's an awful position to be in. I had an excellent post-op bedside experience with another doctor in the same office, but I always have this nagging feeling that if I complain loudly enough to get switched, they'll "spit in my food" while they're switching my proverbial plate.

Dr. Palley is an excellent physician and has done an outstanding job for me and my family. I feel very fortunate having him as a doctor

I was in severe pain when I got to the clinic due to the months wait& stress. Having diarrhea for the whole month, lack of sleep, 5 days of trying to clean my insides out, which the day before had me in the bathroom every 5 mins, procedure @8 am afraid no food for 2 days. The pain that all that caused my other chronic pain to become unbearable,I told the nurse in the prep area as I cried that I needed something for the pain. She never checks with Dr. Palley. Afterwards the pain was worse and she told me to use my own meds and when they don't help I asked her if she had talked to him. Since she didn't get back to me I left. Then called back there and talked to two people and had to describe what affect the procedure had on my pain and maybe I should talk to my primary Dr. I told her and later the nurse in the office that I had to stay in Flagstaff another night because I was in no shape to ride home and had to be taken to my room by wheelchair, I'm told that they would get back to me. 5… hrs later Dr Palley called my boyfriends phone who was caught off guard because he had been running around trying to help me so did not know how to answer the Dr.
