Dr. Steven Craig Patching, MD

If you suffer with depression or anxiety I do not recommend this doctor. Ive been incredibly dedicated to following all of his instructions for MONTHS. I've seen his nutritionist (out of pocket because insurance doesn't cover her), done the imaging (again expensive) , seen his psychiatrist (yet again expensive), and every month he says "ok we're going to get you scheduled soon, should be just after our next visit". Then I get scheduled another month out to see him again. Well finally he told me because of my depression and anxiety (that I disclosed to him from the begining) that I am not a candidate for the surgery that I've been working incredibly hard toward. I invested so much of my time and money toward this goal with Dr. Patching, and all of my effort was for nothing and my goal squashed. Speaking as someone who has suffered with depression the majority of my life and has just accepted that it is part of who I am, this news was crushing after how hard I worked for it. If you have… depression or anxiety, please don't invest your time at Norcal Laproscopy with Dr. Steven Patchings, because let me tell you, this has been a devastating day for me.

All my pre-op appts with the Dr were very informative and full information. I like the fact that he is clear cut. There is no sugar coating it. My surgery went great and following his instructions my post op appts and bloodwork have all been wonderful. If I would have to do this all over again, I would most def see Dr Patching again.

Dr. Patching is an excellent gut surgeon and is very patient and supportive prior to surgery. Post-surgery, the man has zero patience and I thought he was going to toss from his office. If you need post-surgical care, you're on your own.

Easy to speak with, takes time with patients, makes things easier, and has a high success rate.

I went in for bariatric surgery expecting to stay at least one night in the hospital. I woke up after surgery to a nurse telling me it wasn't done - opened and closed because my liver was enlarged. The doctor was gone for the day, and the hospital sent me home in a cab without pain medication or anyone to help me at home after surgery!! First of all - if there is a chance for fatty liver (and there is on every 300 pound woman) then shouldn't you palpate the abdomen before surgery? He never touched my belly before surgery. And secondly - how disappointing that he didn't see me in recovery himself after a disappointing surgery. He'd already left the hospital for the night.

Dr Patching is great. I lv this Dr. Caring. My Dr transfer down south he took me on no hesitation. Need followup doing great 15 yrs post op. Still need to lose alittle weight.

Dr. Patching at NorCal Advanced Laparoscopy combines cutting edge technology with old-fashioned patient care. In less than a month, I went from discovering an unusual lump to walking two miles a day post-hernia repair surgery. The entire process was absolutely seamless, if not downright pleasant. I requested Dr. Patching, upon diagnosis at Sutter Urgent Care, based on reputation. His office called the same day, and assured me an appointment would be imminent, even if they had to stay afterhours. I had an initial appointment within days, and upon arrival, I knew I was in for a different, and much better, experience than previous surgeries. I have had my share, and have become used to having my files and scans misplaced, referrals delayed, and phone calls unreturned. This office, in contrast, is absolutely stellar. The physical space is modernized, clean and airy; the operation is efficient and systematized; and the staff is so darn friendly that you want to invite them to… Thanksgiving dinner. Unlike the big-ego surgeons of my past, Dr. Patching is an excellent listener (I wanted something a little outside the box, and we had a good exchange about it) and noticeably respectful and complimentary of his staff. They work as a team, and make you feel part of it. As for the surgery, Dr. Patching called me the night before and assured me he would take good care of me. He ordered extra meds prior to and following surgery to deal with my tendency for nausea. And my husband very much appreciated Dr. Patchingâ??s visit with him post-surgery, where he diagrammed what had been done and how he should care for me. For someone prone to white coat syndrome â?? seriously, my blood pressure spikes just having to call a doctorâ??s office â?? it is a marvel I could feel so comfortable and well taken care of in a surgical office. Thank you, Dr. Patching, Blanca, Christi and Danielle, and well done!

Combative personality. Rushed. Poor listener. Failed to offer opportunity for patient questions. I have never experienced this type of behavior with a doctor. He may be good at what he does, but he definitely needs to work on his social skills and on being courteous and respectful Very disappointed.

Dr. Patching performed hernia surgery on me. The hernia turned out to be more severe than anticipated and Dr. Patching and his surgical staff did an excellent job of correcting the issues during the surgery. Dr Patching is an excellent surgeon and the Sutter Hospital staff provides excellent care.

Dr Patching and his staff are very in-tune with their patients. I had bariatric surgery 3 years ago and I haven't had any complications. The staff calls me in advance to follow-up on my labs and our visits are short and sweet. I highly recommend this surgeon and his staff to anyone seeking true PROFESSIONALS (with a family touch)
