Dr. Steven P Pisoni, MD

Dr. Pisoni is a great doctor. I like how he explains things in detail and tells you about your sickness. It's not just, " Here is your prescription, see you later." He also personally contacted me after my visit. Dr. Pisoni and the staff at Southwest Medical Center are very helpful. Would recommend to anyone.

Where do i start? I went to Dr. Pisoni a year or two ago and had to switch doctors. He not only called me a hypochondriac, but mis-diagnosed and told me i had arthritis. I went to arthritis doctor and they were stumped as to why he would say this. According to arthritis Dr she said i had no signs. Anyway, that's just the tip of the iceberg. He is rude, tries giving me a life lesson story every time i saw him, i didn't come for a story, i came to be healed but always told me i worried too much, and was just downright RUDE! Also, he never drew blood tests are anything, i always had to ask for things sometimes...and when i did so often ever gave my opinion he usually got mad at me telling me that he was the doctor and I'm not. I also a few times mentioned something i saw on the internet...look out! Bad idea, once i mentioned the internet there was smoke in his ears! Wow. I have too many other countless stories with this guy. I had to switch doctors and get away from this guy,… he should not be practicing medicine or needs to keep his issues at home. His attitude and bedside manner is horrible. Although i have to say he helped me with a few issues, i have to admit i wanted to like him and was close to where i lived but in the end the bad outweighed the good and had to move on. I'm very happy with my new doctor and she sits down and talks with me, diagnoses me, cares, and has never once giving me a life lesson and told me i was a worry wort. What kind of Dr does that!? Last thing, the staff always seemed kind of stand off-ish too, sometimes friendly, sometimes not, mostly not...if that explains anything.

I would never go back to Dr. Pisoni. I was his patient about twenty five years ago. At the time I was suffering from anorexia and was extremely underweight. My chiropractor/nutritionist requested a copy of my blood work. When Dr. Pisoni found this out, he went ballistic and screamed and yelled at me for about fifteen minutes. He insulted the field of chiropractic and accused me of going behind his back when I consulted the chiropractor. I subsequently reported him to the Missouri board of healing arts and never heard the consequences of my complaint. He is not a healer. No healer would ever scream at a patient.

My mom insisted on staying with him, why? I have no clue! He was very rude when she wanted me in the room with her. He said he only had time for one problem per appointment. Mom was almost 70 and dying, she was bound to have more then one thing going on at a time. His whole attitude changed after his receptionist Debbie left. The best thing he could do would be to get her back!

Pisoni is much more interested in dealing with the past and future than the present. Does not matter if you see him for a cold or a fracture - he is unconcerned with what is going on in the moment. He will tell you that you have had colds before and you will get them again - and you survived. DId he do anything for your present cold? NO. I once had a fractured bone - complained about it for 2 visits - he told me it was soft tissue swelling the first visit. After much pleading on the 2nd visit I got a radiograph. A week later I called the office - yes you have a fracture. He did not even bother to call me and tell me. Third visit about the same fracture - well it should almost be healed - forget about it unless you want them to rebreak it and try to fix it when it has already healed. He is always sure he is right - though he never diagnoses anything. He is convinced that his years of experience are more accurate than running lab tests. Hs is sure he knows what is wrong with you - but… there is no treatment plan - he just wants you to deal with and accept what your body is telling you.Pass on this doctor - you will not get the care, compassion, and respect that you deserve as a client.

I like Dr. Pisoni. He's a straight shooter and followed up with me personally.

He was my Mom's doctor for years. When her health started declining, I would take her to him, and he was unbelievably rude. My Mom complained about him but was afraid to change for fear of what he would think. Who cares! When my Mom's congestive heart failure and osteoporosis were getting really bad to where she could hardly walk, I asked about admitting her to the hospital for some tests. He said he didn't think it was necessary and that older people can become disoriented and catch more illnesses while in the hospital. Well, just about two weeks after that, she was admitted to the hospital by ambulance when her BP suddenly dropped and she was extremely weak. The ER doctor at St. Mary's was very understanding and caring but when he got Dr. Pisoni on the phone, he handed me the phone and Dr. Pisoni argued with me while my Mom lay dying in the ER, telling me that he told her to go to the hospital several times and she refused to go. He totally changed his story. I was under a… lot of stress and shook up and he could have shown some more compassion. I literally hung up on him. My Mom passed away in the hospital the following day.Do not go to this doctor, especially if you are elderly. He has no patience or compassion at all.

Today I went to see Dr. Pisoni for a simple physical....boy was that a mistake. Honestly, he totally insulted me. His first comment was "do you need a physical to lower your insurance premium". Then asked, "why are you here?". I commented I haven't had a physical for 2 years and I am 45 years old and have four childern and just want a check up. He said, "really there is no need????". I said my father has prostate cancer and I have strokes in our family history. He should never have become a Dr.... He said the medical profession is a business. I am assuming since I had one well visit free per year he couldn't make any money off me.....Pretty Sad!

I have been to Pisoni three or four times and I told him I wouldn't be coming back. He is extremely short on manners, bedside or otherwise. Once he found out I smoked, that is all he talked about. All of my problems stemmed from smoking. I'm not stupid and I know that smoking is not good for me. That being said, I don't need a doctor to keep harping at me about smoking. I'm an adult and can make my own decisions.Personally, I feel that even if I was not a smoker, he would still be evasive and rude and overbearing.

This physician was so rude. He barely introduced himself, made no eye contact, seemed very distracted and curt. I never felt comfortable or like he even had any interest in my being there. I knew his wife as physician and thought that he would have share her compassion, bedside manner and approach....that couldn't be farther from the truth. I will not go back. There are plenty of internists out there that take an interest or at least pretend to care!!! This man did not!
