Dr. Steven Alexander Porter, MD

My husband has gone to Dr Porter for about 5 years and we both really like him. He’s honest and forthcoming on what is wrong and clarifies what’s going on. The only thing that bothers me about him is I think he needs to spend more time with his patients but I know he’s a very busy man and goes from one patient to the next. I love his honesty and how he cares about his patients so I highly recommend Dr Porter to anyone that’s having gastro/internal problems.

Dont waste your time

Dr. Porter lacks professionalism and etiquette when he interacts with you. He was rude, abrasive and condescending. He uses your appointments to ramble on and on about nonsense and wastes your time. I dont feel that I gained any insight from my time with Dr. Porter. He was rude to me before my procedure at the hospital, which made me uncomfortable during an already very vulnerable state, and then refused to discuss anything about the procedure after while I was in recovery. I've never had a doctor do that!! The office is outdated, the walls are so paper thin that you can hear an entire interview of the person next to you, and it smells like liver and onions. To add to the insults, misinformation, and dangerous advice given by Dr. Porter, I was sent a letter rejecting ME as a patient! The arrogance is mindblowing!! I didnt plan on returning to Dr Porter as a patient, but now I think I'll let the next person know not to waste their time and money either. If I could give zero stars I would! I have never been more insulted by a Dr. in my life. I waited for three weeks to get in for an appointment to start with then when my appointment came, I went to the wrong office (obviously not their fault). When I called to ask if there was anything that could be done with me being 15 minutes late, they told me that they would not work with me. I understood but was disappointed. I setup another appointment for a month later... Fast forward to my appointment I received a phone call asking if I wanted to come in earlier then scheduled since there was a cancellation. I agreed to come (which actually helps them out more then me). My appointment was for 11 am. I arrived at 10:50 (early). I then proceeded to wait in the waiting room with my 6 small children for 1 hour and 10 minutes. The front desk person was so nice but her hands were tied. I spoke of my frustration given the lack of consideration for my situation one month prior. I mentioned that… it seemed unfair they they wouldn’t let me come 15 minutes late but we’re okay to make me wait 1 hour 10 minutes for my appointment. Again the office staff was very polite and nice to me. I finally got back into the room where the office lady took me back and I mentioned my frustration again the same as I mentioned to the front desk lady. The Dr walked in as I was talking to her and ask what was going on. She went on to explain my frustration. She left and then he looked at me and said that if I was going to be mad at him right off the bat I was welcome to go to someone else. I then told him that I wasn’t getting mad at him but more so the situation and the inconsideration to my circumstances. I mentioned that all he needed to do was to show some empathy and say he was sorry??He then began to just stare me down and said that he did say he was sorry ( all he ever said was, “well sorry it happens”?!) He then sat down to pull up my chart and I told him that I would be leaving because there was no way he could help me with how he was treating me. He then said “fine” to which I said I have never been so mistreated by a Dr and that he had horrible bedside manner. To which he replied “thank you” I left in tears after having all my kids hungry and crying for lunch, naps completely missed, and left with all my same problems I arrived with. I was so humiliated, mistreated, and let down by this awful Dr. who knows what kind of a “Doctor” he is medically but I know he is an awful, inconsiderate, and narcissistic person by how he treated me and my little family. Not worth giving him a try to anyone else out there....

I was extremely dis-satisfied with my recent visit to Dr. Porter. He seemed to know what he was doing but had horrible bed side manners and his staff were extremely rude and constantly talking about people behind their back( not sure if it was a patient or not). Do they not know the rules of HIPPA here? In addition, Dr. Porter was very arrogant and didn't listen to my concerns at all and didn't do any tests. Just told me to follow an extremely restrictive diet while all the while wasting my time talking about diabetes and cholesterol which had nothing to do with why I was there. What a waste of a 50 dollar expensive co-pay; will never go back there again.

I'm very impressed w/ Dr Porter he is quick while in the room with you, but always listening and watching. he does not sugar coat things, he is a straight shooter. he will get to the root of you problem and fix it if possible, rather than throw a handful of pills just to make you feel like something is being done. You have to be will to participate in your care, he will tell you what to do and if you don't do it and get worse, it's not his fault. he is a life saver to those that participate in their healthcare needs.

Dr. Porter, is a good doctor. Took good care of me for 7+ yrs and my children for 2 yrs was thorough and made us comfortable hard to find in a doctor skilled and takes time to make sure patient s understand health issues and feel as if your health needs are just as important to him as you. Unfortunately his staff is not. Last visit racist comment made by tech even though wasn't directed at me I found it unethical and defensive. No follow through,disorganized, unprofessional, not knowledgeable but, will say oh ok, oh ok that will be fine,comments like that to questions like so whats my test for, when do I need to do next? Felt like I was a inconvenience to staff to help answer questions or concerns. Unfortunately, after complaining to nurse about my frustrations and concerns with staff,tech comment and disorganized example: I show up two different appointments that weren't right time or date as I was told. Was told it was my fault and after two no show appts Dr. Porters… services would be discontinued and need me to sign a release to have my records forwarded to a new doctor whoever I want to choose? Worst part had myself,two kids needing postop appts. Was told to find new doctor which as you can image its hard to go to postop appt with a new doctor you've never seen or did the operation? Or hadn't even thought about who I would use? Myself and two kids being sick and needing a doctor that actually did the operations and new patient history. Wouldn't see us. I was dumbfounded I asked to talk to Dr. PORTER but, nurse woulnt let me leave a message to him. After several phone calls and trying to stop by office to speak to him "NO luck" so I wrote a letter and still haven't received any phone calls,etc. Im sure letter never got to Dr. Porter. Very sad because I know him well enough after so many years as my doctor he doesn't treat patients like this. I thought about seeking legal consultation but, dr. Porter isn't the problem its his staff and I hope for other patients never to have to experience what my family has. Dr. Porter has changed his staff in the last two years and actually had a partner that has retired so, this is when things changed. Hopefully this will help!

Dr. Porter checked my husbands prostate during my husbands colonoscopy. He found a spot that he wanted checked out by the urologist just to rule out anything. He referred us to the urologist and the prostate was cancerous. So grateful to Dr. Porter for being so thorough.

I went to Steve Porter for a standard colonoscopy and found his service avove average. He is well educated and up to date on current procedures and research. Besides,he is a skiier. The latter was probably the most important to me but not my wife.

YOU WAS A VERY VERY GOOD DR. TO ME YOU SAVED MY LIFE!!AND I MISS YOU!!DR ROGERS TOOK OVER AND I NEED YOU BACK YOU CAN FIX MY PROMBLE!!
