Dr. Steven Jay Poskar, MD

Before seeing Dr. Poskar, I had seen a number of other psychiatrists and had the impression that they were just randomly prescribing things that didn't work. When I met Dr Poskar I was immediately impressed by his knowledge and experience--he understands why different drugs and therapies work or don't work . He is willing to work with me to reach the appropriate mix of therapy and medication that resolves my problems and now I am back on the road to real life.

One of the Masters of OCD. He knows the in's and out's of OCD as well as many other disabilities. I have bounced in and out around lots of therapists. They found that I had IMPULSIVE BEHAVIOR. Then I came here. I told Dr. Poskar what my problems were and what I needed help with. After listening to my stories he asked some specific questions, then told me that I have OCD and ADHD. All the therapists I have been to have not been able to clearly explain the difference between Compulsive and Obsessive behavior (there is a HUGE debate about them and there are few people who actually get it) Dr. Poskar was able to comprehensively explain the difference and he gave me examples which I immediately related to. Through his hard work I have come to understand that OCD takes up a whole bunch of my life. With the medication he prescribed, and the skills he taught me, I have been able to discover, target and even nullify specific OCD behaviors in my life. He taught me that I can control what happens… in my life, and that I must fight my brain and OCD to let me do what I want. This guy is completely dedicated to his job. You can see that he works hard. If he has spare time before his next appointment he will continue talking to you if you need it. This guy drives the cold hard truth, he can see through the tricks that your mind plays on you, he makes you understand. I thank this man for rescuing my life and making it worth it to keep living. Without him I would have grown up as a worthless man who couldn't control anything.

I have been seeing Dr. Poskar for over two and a half years. After being put on countless medications by various doctors, Dr. Poskar was the first to correctly diagnose me and prescribe the right medication to help get my life back on track. Medication coupled with regular therapy sessions has taken me from suicidal, depressed, and anxious to living my life unrestrained. Dr. Poskar is 100% present in our sessions, and his ability to empathize and relate to his patients on a personal level separates him from all of the average stone-cold therapists out there. He always makes sure I walk out of his office feeling like I can take on the world better than when I walked in. If an emergency comes up on a weekend, heâ??ll take as much time as needed to address it over the phone. Anyone who knows Dr. Poskar knows that his patients are his #1 priority, and I cannot recommend him enough. He truly saved my life.

If it was not for Dr. Poskar's help, support and knowledge several family members would not be in the place they are today. We owe everything to him. He will do anything for his patients to make sure they are on the road to recovery. I cannot recommend him enough.
