Dr. Steven Ramos, MD

While my procedure was ultimately carried out (hence two stars), I felt that Dr. Ramos and the staff at SAGA/SAGEC treated many of his patients with callous disregard. Dr. Ramos stacked his schedule for his last day performing procedures before his retirement (Feb. 18, 2022) so that many of us waited 2-3 additional hours to have our procedures performed. Those of us waiting for colonoscopies had not eaten solid food in over 36 hours and were dehydrated because we were forbidden from drinking even water for the previous 12+ hours. The staff made no offer to have another doctor perform our procedures, while all five patients waiting in the area where I was (at 11:30 AM) were Dr. Ramos' patients. The staff made up times as to when we would be seen, and I was not put onto a gurney until I threatened to walk out. Another patient (a diabetic who could no longer wait to eat) left at noon after the staff lied to his significant other about monitoring his blood sugar. (They assured her that… they were doing so, according to him, but he was out in the hallway with me.) Once I got into the procedure room, Kathy (the anesthetist nurse) tried to engage me in a political conversation about vaccination mandates. I had to cut her off and tell her that I did not want to debate politics with her right before going under. It really was a demeaning experience, in that I felt like a head of cattle being moved through a clogged chute, rather than a valued patient receiving care from a trusted provider. My husband will be due for a colonoscopy in the coming months, and we'll go outside San Antonio, rather than give SAGA/SAGEC our business.

This doctor and this facility are horrible. They billed me over $1,000 for a colonoscopy because he found a barely visible polps. Folks do not go to this doctor or facility. I have several friends who have gone to different doctors and facilities that charge nothing for polps. I am not the kind to write reviews so...you have been warned.

This MD does not care about his patients. He will see you for only 1 minute and not answer any of your questions. He is not a people person, and if you ask him a question, he acts bothered. Please DO NOT see this MD.

He is rude, uncaring and during my colonoscopy he and his staff did not dose me right so I woke up in the middle of the procedure screaming. Afterwards for a week I had horrible pain that spread all the way to my chest and arms. Then when I started vomiting his staff said I should be seen again but they wanted to schedule me a week from then. This doctor doesn't care about his patients at all.
