Dr. Steven Sunderman

This doctor has no bedside manner, is very condescending, continuously interrupts, very impatient and had his diagnosis within ten minutes of talking to me. Six years of various physical problems, and he decided it's "all in my head" and insisted that I'm currently extremely depressed. He is NOT a psychiatrist, and still couldn't put all of my symptoms under an Umbrella" diagnosis of depression. His advice was to immediately stop taking all of my medications, which can cause extremely dangerous consequences. Clearly has no clue what he's talking about.

My family had terrible experiences with this doctor. Do not go to him unless you will be on top of all lab work and your own advocate! He missed severe heart failure and severe obstructive sleep apnea in my family member until she was in the emergency room and now there is so much damage she is nearing the end and there is nothing we can do. Looking back at her visit summaries, she had tachycardia and high blood pressure and was never checked for heart problems, she was just labeled "white coat syndrome". But in reality she was having A Fib, PVCs, etc for years and they were never addressed even though problems were recorded with her vitals. Complete gross misconduct and now we are all paying the price. Another family member with a history of blood clots seeing this doctor was not checked up on for years so was left on a blood thinner and had major bruising all on his arms and legs. Should not fill refills without checking on the patient especially when they have dangerous underlying… conditions!! BEWARE this doctor!!!

I had such hope when I chose Sunderman for my physician; but then I had the same experience as is described in the reviews. How revealing that this person is employed with Kaiser -and as their lead MD! It reflects badly on Kaiser and saps any confidence I'd had in the the Kaiser business model.

If your scheduled to see this doctor, go find ANYONE else. I have never been so amazed in his carelessness and inability to work with my situation. He told me to stop taking a medicine i have been taking for over 6 months for anxiety..."we dont do that here. Its highly addictive, you have plenty here (6 pills)- start weaning yourself off." With no direction as to what the beat route would be to ween myself off of valium, tried to leave the room... As if there was a 911 in the next room. Horible listener. No compassion- waiste of my time and money. Absolutely disgusted. Wont be goong back to him or Kaiser again.

I had one of the worse experiences with this Doctor in the Kaiser system. Poor listener, pushed me out the door with no resolution, made mistakes in my treatment, made recommendations for a disorder that had no merit for any long term recovery. I had to e-mail him for all my test info and x-rays results. Have no trust that this Doctor is invested in my health and future care. In my ratings I feel generous giving him a one star but they did not have an option for - stars in their rating system. In short, Don't go to him!!!
