Dr. Steven Gary Safran, MD

Main procedure was for standard cataract surgery. Although I've been diagnosed for years with marginal eye pressure, Dr. Safran recommended an iStent surgical implantation to reduce pressure. I said no, I would use drops. He insisted that the efficacy was better. I then wrote two letters to his office instructing no iStent procedure. The morning of the cataract surgery, he became insistent and nearly belligerent that the iStent must be used. This, by the way, is an expensive procedure not covered by Medicare. I relinquished (I was on the operating table!). 90 days later I was diagnosed with a serious, vision-destroying retinal condition in the eye worked on. No prior signs what so ever of this condition prior to the microinvasive glaucoma surgery. I am furious and researching if there is a connection.

This man is perfectly described by the other negative reviews on all the other places,he is Rough ,damages your eyes and tells you it’s not true and he gets angry, very dismissive and doesn’t even care to try to remedy the damage. STAY AWAY HE IS VERY INCOMPETENT AND UNETHICAL. REMEMBER YOU ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE FOR YOUR EYES FIND SOMEONE ELSE. UNLESS YOU WANT TO FIND OUT THE HARD WAY. DONT RISK YOUR EYES. JUST READ THE REVIEW WHERE HE HAD A PERSON GO BLIND IN ONE EYE IN HEATHGRADES AND REVIEW FORUMS.BEST OF LUCK FIND A DOCTOR WHO CARES AND DOES THE BEST WITH CARE AND DOES NOT TREAT YOU LIKE GARBAGE.

Traveled far to see him to get a second opinion. Wait was pretty long. Found his overall demeanor to be crass and insensitive; cursed during the appointment as well. Recommended a treatment that I had already tried with products that I have known sensitivities to. Was not concerned about answering my questions. Techs were nice but obviously supported whatever he said.

after waiting one and a half hours in the waiting room I got to see him for 3 minutes which he spent talking to his assistant about his children and family. Would not take the time to answer one single question from me regarding the surgery he recommended. I will never go there again even he was the only eye doctor in the area. Worst experience ever.

Dr. Safran is an amazing surgeon. He did a lens replacement surgery on me and the results were nothing short of outstanding. He is the best in his field. Literally the best. I will never go to any other eye physician. People come from all over the country to see him! Yes, he's that great. I'd give him 100 stars if I could!

Dr Ike Ahmed and dr safran are my drs and I am most grateful to them. They both helped me through a very trying time and my eye is perfect now. Gifted hands they have.

Excellent doctor

Sometimes, he can be very brusque, almost irritating, however he appears to be very proficient in his practice. Overbooking is quite a problem (bring along a book or crossword puzzle). His staff is well trained and perky, unlike their boss.

We were highly recommended to use Dr. Safran by our internist and other happy patients. He performed cataract surgery on my Mom and Dad with excellent results. His expertise and chair-side manner are outstanding. We are so lucky we found this incredible man, physician and scholar! We would highly recommend him to all. The wait was long but boy was it worth it for a lifetime results.

This doctor overbooks patients so the waiting period is very long. The last time I had an appointment I waited over an hour, twenty minutes. I then complained to the staff and then he finally looked at me. He saw me for less than 10 minutes. This was my third visit and all three times the wait was over an hour. I'll never go back.
