Dr. Steven L Scher, DDS

Dr. Scher received his B.A degree from Brooklyn College. He completed his dental school education at New York University with a D.D.S. degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society. Dr. Scher served 2 years in the US Army at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. Dr. Scher then went on to receive his Orthodontic Certificate of specialty training from New York University. Dr. Scher is a Board-Certified Orthodontist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. This is the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists. Currently, only 25% of orthodontists are board certified.
Dr. Scher is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Board of Orthodontics, Northeast Society of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, and Connecticut Dental Society. Dr. Scher studied at the Roth-Williams Foundation for Continuing Education …in California, where he trained in occlusion and TMJ treatment modalities. He has experience in treating patients with skeletal deformities who require a combination of orthodontic treatments. He is a Certified Invisalign provider and has been certified in Biolase Laser therapy. He is a Senior Attending at Norwalk hospital, where he treats orthodontic patients who are unable to afford treatment in a private practice.
Dr. Scher, his wife Susan, and their two sons, Peter and Alexander, live in Weston. Dr. Scher's older children, Jon and Lara, are both married and Lara has a beautiful daughter. Some of his hobbies include tennis, golf, skiing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He is passionate about photography and he is the designated team photographer for the Weston High School Soccer and Lacrosse teams. His photos have been published in the Westport News and Weston Forum.
