Dr. Steven Sorrells Scott, MD

I had a chest tube put in for a lung biopsy. I was treated with respect and although I was on medication for back problems he made sure I was not screaming with pain. He came in and talked to me as a person and even called me before the procedure to explain what was going to happen and several times afterwards to make sure I wasn’t having any issues or complications with the procedure. If I have other lung issues that need surgery I’d definitely use him and recommend him to my family and friends.

Dr Steven Scott performed my fathers bypass surgery. When we went to the follow up in his office, my father complained of his peripheral vision in one eye. Dr Scott told us not to worry about it and sent us home. He only told us to follow up with an eye doctor if it didn’t go away in a few months. Two days later my dad couldn’t get out of bed because he had a massive stroke. The neurologist and every other doctor we have talked to after told us that dr Scott should have immediately sent us to the ER because my dad was already having a stroke in dr Scott’s office. My dad never recovered and died the following year. Do not trust this doctor. He has since left VA and is now practicing in GA. I hope you find another surgeon. My dads heart problem was found during a routine stress test and dr Scott just happened to be the dr on call that day. The nurses all asked if we had a different dr but the one they recommended was on vacation and the picture painted to us was that my… father was in imminent danger so we let dr Scott perform the surgery. Oh how I wish we had made better choices and oh how I wish I had not trusted him at my dads follow up. My gut said go to the ER but I trusted dr Scott and wanted to believe it wasn’t serious.

Dr. Scott did an excellent job on my heart performing 4 bypasses. His after surgery care was straight forward and comprehensive. My wife and daughters were very pleased with his communication and explanations of my surgery and care.

Dr. Scott is a doctor that I would NOT recommend to anyone. He did nothing to help my mother who was very sick. After being sick for seven months... a full biopsy was FINALLY ordered. Three days later my mother died. Dr. Scott showed no compassion!

Dr Scott's skill, care and concern as my surgeon performed a lobectomy for NSCLC Stage IIIA saved my life. That was 10 years ago. I have had no re-occurrence nor has it metastasized. His professional yet compassionate demeanor was greatly appreciated by me AND my family. Thanks.

He's a very courteous, caring, knowledgeable surgeon. This man saved my life, walked me through all of the steps, and answered any and all questions I had. He made me feel extremely comfortable in my surgery, as well as the recovery. He even kept checking in with me daily just to see how I was feeling after I had an aortic aneurysm repaired and mechanical aortic valve installed caused by Bicuspid Aortic Valve Disease. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Scott. The world needs more physicians like him.

He is a REAL DOCTOR; the kind I grew up with and I never thought I would ever see one of his ilk again in my life. He is smart, caring, and goes the extra mile. I can't say enough "good" about him. Needless to say I would recommend his to the Heads of State, etc. They would be in "good Hands"!
