Dr. Steven Howard Selman, MD

When I first came to Dr Reed about 20 years ago my mother was very ill . He was so kind and caring and truly empathetic. I had a serious eye problem and he acted quickly and saved my sight. I am so grateful for him and his caring attitude. My mom has passed, but I will never forget Dr Reed. I will be with him for the rest of my life. Sometimes the wait is long as he has many patients with serious eye issues, but I would wait all day for him if I had to. He is the best Dr. I know!

Dr Selman dignosed me with my UPJ obstruction but failed to followed up with my condition. I continued to have pain after my surgery and he told me that it was all in my head. Once I transfered to U of M my doctor Dr. Wolfe he stated that I had scar tissue on my surgical site from 2006-2011 and he went in to laser off scar tissue and removed ALL my pain!!!!! I LOVE dr WOLFE from University of Michigan!!! You saved me!!!

Im not sure Dr. Selman is completely with it. It seems he is lead by his assistants and they do the thinking and diagnosing for him. Any treatments are their suggestions. He changes and cancels a lot of appointments (maybe these are days he can't fake it). I had one surgery with him. The appointment time was changed to two hours earlier the night before. I laid in pre-op for almost 4 hours before the doc ever made an appearance and I could see the entire room. He made a quick appearance at all of his patients beds one after the other, and that was the last of him. A resident performed the surgery (which was not what we discussed). I don't believe Dr. Selman was even there for it. No-one came to discuss the surgery afterwards until I requested it. The Dr. had already left for the day (this was 15 minutes after surgery) so I spoke to a resident who wasn't involved in the surgery. He said it went fine and nothing out of the ordinary was found. Dr. Selmans office canceled my follow up… appointment the morning of it. I ordered the reports and images from the surgery and took them to U of M. There were obvious issues mentioned in the report that were not discussed with me. This Dr is a waste of your time and money and is not mentally capable of treating you. The only positive experience is the staff. At least they are nice.

I came home from my appointment and cried. Dr. Selman is uncaring to the point of being dangerous. He rushed through my exam and did not take a history. The only thing he wanted was to do a multi-thousand dollar procedure in the hospital. I ran out of the office, and found another urologist. After this unfortunate experience, I will be sending a letter to the Ohio Medical Licensing Board.

Unfriendly, aloof, and zero bedside manner.

doctor has zero communication skills. has a male nurse practioner running the office does not know what he is doing and the rest of the office staff are rude and incompetent.caveat=stay away
