Dr. Steven Richard Shlonsky, MD

I was referred to Dr. Shlonsky a number of years ago by Dr. George Quill, this region's preeminent orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle care. If you're familiar with Dr. Quill's reputation, you can stop reading now and call Dr. Shlonsky for an appointment; His referral is a sort of gold standard. Dr. Quill's was one of the best medical referrals I've ever received. Dr. Shlonsky's expertise and creative problem-solving are extraordinary. He has a classic approach to solving the many complex problems presented by the foot, and I have never seen him stymied. I would call his approach old school - except that it might better be called timeless. He's not averse to technology, but he is very focused on using masterful traditional techniques to diagnose and address the the mechanical and physical issues that arise from bone structure, gait, weight-bearing, and shoe design to come up with effective solutions to keep people on their feet. And unlike some podiatrists,… Dr. Shlonsky seems very focused on finding aggressive and successful podiatric strategies for avoiding surgical solutions whenever possible. His strategies and his coordination of my shoe and orthotics choices have kept me on my feet even when I've indulged in some walking adventures that a reasonable person might call imprudent. After nearly a decade of experience as his patient, I have utter confidence in Dr. Shlonsky's judgment, advice, and skills. I will also note that he has great people skills. He's an excellent communicator, keeps to his schedule, respects his patients, and though he keeps a small office, he is always available for consultation, even outside normal business hours.
