Dr. Steven Stefan Souchtchenko, MD

A family member of mine had a terrible experience with this doctor. This man accused his young patient of seeking drugs in response to them being admitted for extreme pain due to a very real chronic illness. This man's actions obviously lacked the professional and cultural competency and perspective to comprehend the severe pain that is associated with this condition and was incredible insensitive in his interactions. Not only did he not help this patient and dismiss their pain, he actively chose to cause further harm by accusing them of trying to scam for drugs. This kind of behavior, especially in regard to chronic pain conditions experienced by women, is entirely unacceptable and abhorrent. This doctor was obviously unable to think beyond whatever his own personal (and inaccurate) biases are. This patient came to the hospital for help and Dr. Souchtchenko turned the already stressful and painful experience into something far more traumatizing and harmful.

I went to the ER with a severe and obvious allergic reaction. Not only did he shame and humiliate me, HE HIT ME. I'm a disabled woman with severe chronic illnesses (which he make it clear he knows nothing about and patently refuses to learn about), and HE HIT ME because he didn't want to treat me. In my records he claimed I was "drug seeking" for benadryl. FOR BENADRYL. Then he contradicted his own coworkers stating that my clear and obvious allergic reaction isn't real. Then he disparaged me while lying repeatedly to attempt to cover up the fact that, again, HE HIT ME. Treating me - a disabled woman with an allergic reaction - as a drug seeker and sub-human who deserves violence and abuse is a gigantic red flag. I'm terrified of ever being near him in any setting ever again. Just to be clear, HE HIT A DISABLED WOMAN to make his ego feel better then lied saying I was drug seeking because I wanted an allergic reaction - that lasted more than a week after he refused care - to stop.
