Physician assistant Steve Stone feels privileged to work as an oncology/hematology physician assistant. He’s been practicing since 2011 and is still excited to come to work every day. “New therapies are being developed at an unprecedented rate, and the standard of care is constantly evolving,” Steve explains. “It's exciting to have a career where we are never satisfied with existing treatments and patient outcomes. We are constantly striving to improve the treatments available for cancer patients. Cancer care is becoming highly individualized, and it's so gratifying to see tailored treatments resulting in remarkable outcomes.”Steve works with patients with all types of cancers and blood disorders. He has a special interest in treating Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma.As a husband and father of four, a majority of Steve’s spare time is spent participating in and watching their activities. “I also enjoy playing and teaching the guitar. I consider …my 1951 Gibson guitar, made here in Kalamazoo, my fifth child.”It's truly enjoyable seeing patients day after day, working to improve their outcomes one visit at a time. I find myself reading hematology/oncology literature during my free time because the more I know, the more I can help the patients that I am caring for.
