Dr. Steven Mark Traina, MD

I have been working with Dr. Traina for 19 years. He has replaced both knees in that time frame. The surgeries were successful and I was able to continue to golf, ski (H2O & Snow), and dance. One can put his/her complete trust in Dr. Traina's judgement, ability, and decisions. There is no other orthopedic I would have work on my knees. He is up-to-date on the latest medical advancements. He speaks directly of alternatives and at a level one can understand. He also addresses the risks. Dr. Traina is professional, knowledgeable, and talented in his field. More important, he treats you, not only as a patient, but as a personal friend. He cares deeply. I highly recommend Western Orthopedics and Dr. Traina. Outstanding!!!!

I've known Dr. Traina for over 20 years he has operated on both knees, my ankle and shoulder. He now focuses on knees- and he is the best . I would not let anyone else do my procedure unless Dr. Traina was unavailable. He gets it, great bedside manner and is beyond a doubt one of the best. Period

Dr. Traina has provided excellent care for me in 2003 for meniscus repair 2013 for meniscus repair and two weeks ago for a full knee joint replacement. He is an excellent surgeon. He is competent and careful. All three of these surgical experiences have been excellent and the results have been beyond my expectation. He has my highest recommendation.

Like another person said, just bc you treat athletes doesn’t meant the rest of your patience deserve less. I find it ironic that this man says on the WO website that he takes a patient-centric approach and that he listens. My experience was 100% opposite. I never felt heard, he was condescending and spoke down to me at every turn. My biggest “are you kidding me?” moment was when I was going into surgery (literally on the surgical bed), and I mentioned a medical concern my dad had brought up. He rolled his eyes and when I called him out on it and said I just want to be heard, he turned and said, “We can get you out of this bed right now and you can go home.” That comment was made 10 min before the man was about to cut me open. Who does that to a patient! The WORST bedside manner of any doctor I’ve had. My post-surgery experience was much of the same and when I conintied to have sharp pain in my knee months after the surgery and PT, he said I’d have to wear a knee brace forever (with a… too bad, sucks for you approach). I decided right then to take my care to another doc in the practice - Dr Parks - who offered up other solutions for the pain and treated it with compassion. I wouldn’t recommend Traina if he was the last doctor on the planet. The other docs in the practice are just as skilled, with less ego and more compassion.

What a waste of time. Just because you treat and take care of professional athletes, doesn't mean that you have the right to talk down to your other patients and make them think that their pain is not important.

Not only is Dr. Traina a brilliant man and surgeon, his "bedside manner" and genuine compassion are unmatched!

Dr. Traina was quick in the appointment (I tend to like doctors that spend a bit more time interacting), but I did walk away with the feeling that he is experienced and accurately diagnosed my issue.
