Dr. Steven Lester Warsof, MD

Dr. Steven Warsof was my Dr for both of my pregnancies. After miscarrying at 17 weeks, I found him and he gave me the reassurance if I followed his directions that he could help me reach full term after suffering my miscarriages . Dr. Warsof is one of the best and I am very thankful he was able to place my cerclage in and I was able to carry both of my children now age 17 and 10 to full term.

My baby was oblique in the womb and I mentioned he was leaning to my left side. Dr. Warsof mumbled a 'leaning to the left' phallic joke. He assumed I did not understand and quickly apologized, saying it was, "an old obstetrics joke." Obstetrics is quite literally the opposite of anything phallic. He then pressured me to get an induction at 40 wks because, "picking apples ripe from a tree is better than waiting for them to rot and drop themselves." With this perspective, all women should be induced before their due date estimate? I did not appreciate his analogy, or being compared to an apple tree - plants that bare external fruit are not comparative to humans. I think and feel that he is out-of-touch with the practice of obstetrics.
