Dr. Stewart Mitchell Kaskel, MD

I'm going to start off by saying something that was repeated to me in the Urgent Care clinic this morning; "It's been 2.5 years, see your patients! " After testing negative at home for covid I call the next morning to schedule a same day appointment. I wanted to make sure I didn't have an infection or strep throat or tonsillitis ect. The secretary who acted as if she's the one with a medical degree instructed me that I needed to go to CVS to get a PCR test and rambled off some talking points about covid symptoms. I told her it can take two or three days to get results, I've already tested negative once and I need to see my doctor today. She then changed her mind and decided instead that I needed to go to urgent care. After I told her that I needed talk to a medical professional and not a secretary she literally said "No, I call the shots." Astonishingly unprofessional and rude. I find it incredibly spineless that him and his secratary are ok with passing the buck to an urgent… care clinic or ER. The secretary made some remark about their patients being sick and high risk. Well who do you think goes into Urgent Care clinics and ERs? All the other doctors in town had months long waiting lists to establish care. I was able to get into Kaskel right away. I guess now I know why. Also I find it a little pathetic for a doctor seeing a masked, socially distanced, vaccinated, negative testing patient two and a half years into a pandemic, to be terrified. Dr.Kaskel took an oath to do no harm. If he's unwilling to abide by that oath perhaps it's time for him to retire. Side note: I called a couple months back asking for a refill and different dose for my perception. The secretary immediately said to me " I don't think he's going to do that yeah I'm sorry." I was confused as to what just happened. Did a SECRETARY, not a nurse or MA just answer for a doctor? This office lady really has delusions of grandeur.

I was referred to Dr. Kaskel by my surgeon for a pre-surgical authorization. I thought he was thorough, pleasant and knew his stuff. I'm thinking about keeping him as my primary care physician. And, p.s., that patient who had the gall to diagnose the doctor... seriously?!

I have seen him for over 2.5 years and regret what I now have to write. I can attest to this via my prior experience as a Medical Conduct Investigator with NYS Medical Board (15 years). The positive is that he is a good medical technician who has a knack for good diagnosis. This however is counterbalanced with a lack of socialization and poor interpersonal skills. If you can tolerate this in a physician, and are simply looking for somebody to tell you what to do and can tolerate the unpredictability of his tantrums when they appear, good luck. He can be rigid and inflexible, and I am specifically referring to phone calls made by staff to get pts to see him, withholding medication refills if they don't, and refusing to speak with them first about it. This just happened to me, and I am very angry about it. He prescribed a BP Med for me which assisted in mgmt, although I was on other meds. His office called me asking me to see him for a follow up. As I was doing fine without it, I… cancelled it. I just got a phone call from them to see him again. I needed a renewal on the med as he didn't give me one, and staff replied that he had to see me first to check it. I informed him that the BP was being monitored by a specialist, and also by my fiancee, who is a past Director of Nursing. Staff told me he would not renew the med unless I saw him, and would not speak to me about it. I cannot countenance what surprisingly looks like an attempt for "inducement for financial gain", which in certain instances is actually misconduct if proven. So I offer this caveat. I took umbrage to this behavior. But others may not. Good luck. Personally I wish him well, although the above severely detracts from an otherwise decent professional.

I have just moved back to the area and had to establish a primary care physician and was happy to see he took my insurance. However, after reading some of these reviews I was a bit apprehensive about going to the see Dr. Kaskel for the first time. I have to say that I'm sorry the other people didn't have a great experience or thought he didn't have a good bedside manner because I have to say he spent a lot of time with me, looked me in the eyes (unless he was thinking about something), and really showed an interest in my well being. I had asked if he could recommend an allergist and was happily surprised that they conducted test in the office! Libby was very compassionate as well (the person who conducted the testing). In any event, people take the time to write a review when they are disappointed to help others, so I wanted to write this review to say that I was very pleased and relieved to find a physician now that I plan on being here for awhile. Stanley Hagler, poa hcp in Boca Raton, FL Jun 07, 2018 I DO NOT recommend Dr S. Kaskel . He was covering [Sunday night 060318]for our Doctor. I will recommend our Doctor not use Dr. S.Kaskel as a covering doctor. Sunday night my wife was experiencing many side effects to the Exelon patch. It was frightening! I called our doctor n the answering service contacted Dr Kaskel. The service advised that Dr Kaskel would return my call shortly. To this date Thursday 060618 we have not received a call from Dr S.Kaskel. No excuse for Ur late of concern Doc!!

A bit of an alarmist

Im fairly certain that he has Asperger's Syndrome. As such he has effectively no personality or interpersonal skills. However, I believe he is highly bright, competent and thorough from a medical perspective. It really depends on what you want in a doctor. Personally, I want a good clinician who is thorough and efficient. But if you need TLC this is not your guy.

My husband and I are both patients of Dr. Kaskel. We've been his patients for over 3 years now. Both of us are healthy, minor health concerns like "need to see Dr. for Rx due to illness" or yearly physical. We both agree he does not have any type of a bed side humor, and that is really important for the patients. You want your Dr. to look you in the eye and have a serious deep caring discussion about you, your habits - your stresses, your opinions and answer all of your questions. You will not get this from him unfortunately. You will get a hurried Dr. who flys in the door and reads your patient file on the laptop. With no eye contact, nothing. I just saw him last week for my yearly physical. I decided to just stop trying to have small talk with the wall. He came in for my physical, checked my breathing...ears, mouth...looked at EKG for I swear, 2 seconds. Then he left. Kid you not, he never asked me how I was doing, he barely did eye contact and he was out the door within 3… minutes. We are moving within a year so I won't go back to see him. I'll wait until after we move. I personally would not recommend him as a dr., I am very healthy, in my 50's so I'm not too upset he's dry with no personality. I'm sure his knowledgable - he's just not a people person.

This doctor should have his license revoked. He obviously offers from some type pf personality disorder. Stay away!

You have got to be kidding? WHAT A JERK! The other reviewers must be family of his. I never write reviews but just had to on this physician. If you choose this one - you need a psychiatrist, not an internist.
