Dr. Stuart Marc Flechner, MD

In 2015, Stuart Fleckner performed an auto kidney transplant on me. Almost immediately, I experienced severe complications and recurring infections. Instead of acknowledging the issues from the surgery, he documented my case in a medical journal. Over time, I saw other women who had undergone the same procedure lose their lives, and I felt as though I was left to endure it alone. For eight years, I remained on antibiotics to manage the effects, as removing the kidney would have been an admission of the surgery’s failure. It wasn’t until I found a hospital across the country that my life was truly saved. They discovered that the flap preventing backflow had been removed during the surgery, a detail that Fleckner would have known. Yet, he chose to publish his journal and carry on, leaving countless patients at risk. I was fortunate to find help and survive, but not everyone was given that chance.
