Dr. Garay “cares” about his patients. He is a superb physician, very busy, keeps patients waiting; but unlike others the wait is worth it.

Caring, thorough, responsive. Yes, there is often a wait but he is worth it. He is there for his patients.

Never called you back never follows up with your CPAP machine and his answering service is also rudeð???ð??»

Dr. Garay has a confused office staff. They forgot to send a prescription to the radiologist. The doctor doesn't follow up after test results come in - even after many phone calls. Often he doesn't even know that the results came in - even a month after the test!

Whereas the doctor is pelasant and sounds caring, it is VERY hard to have anyone follow up. The office staff is HORRIBLE, they pretend not to be familair with the situation and try to get rid of you as soon as possible.

I went to Dr Garay a year and a half ago, when i was extremely sick with sarcoidosis. my initial impression was good, but it went down hill and dropped to the bottom this last visit. as a result of my diagnosis, i joined a sarcoidosis group that had more up to date information then he did, ie that chronic fatigue is a symptom. i kept describing symptoms of chronic fatigue, but it was never validated by him until recently. we discussed putting me on medication for the fatigue. he was heading to a conference and suggested i call him upon his return because he would have up to date information. i did. 4xs and never received a call back. because of his lack of responsiveness, i highly DO NOT recommend dr garay as a pulmonologist for treating sarcoidosis.

Dr.Garay is by far one of the very best lung doctor's in New York City. He Has been treating my incurable MAC disease since 2003 when I was first diagnosed. I trust him with my life and believe that he's smart, involved and caring. Yes, he's busy but you don't want a doctor who has an empty waiting room. He returns my calls, granted at the end of the day, but he does call me back. He also follows up, remembers my case and has a wonderful manner. Medicine is not about looking at the clock. He takes good care of his patients and that's all that counts. I gladly give him my 4-stars. He deserves more!

The doctor clearly didn't know how to handle my problem and I wasted a year going to him to try to get the correct diagnosis and treatment. He always tried to rush me out of the office, even though I still had questions (I feel like that was because he knew he wouldn't be able to answer them). His receptionists are HORRIBLE! They give you attitude, hang up on you, and don't call you back. Also had a problem with calling Garay's office to have him call me back regarding an urgent issue, but he only called A MONTH LATER (I called his office 2-3 times a week during that month begging to have him call me back). STAY AWAY from this doc!!!
