Dr. Stuart Deane Helms, MD

Initially, My impression was fair. After seeing him concerning two major health issues, he would become annoyed with questions. He didn’t respond to problems with medication he prescribed, just made excuses. The medicine he prescribed is listed as not recommended by Mayo Clinic and my pharmacist even questioned his choice. Last appointment he never showed at all and left me waiting for an hour and ten minutes in examination room. When I called back to ask him why, he denied even knowing that I was there. He threw away my intake sheet for the appointment, like he was hiding his actions. He never apologized and said it could happen again. Worst doctor I’ve ever had. I’d been seeing him for nine years. My son was not comfortable with him either. I do like Baycare’s facilities.

One of my worst decision, was booking an appointment with Dr. Helms. Very poor doctor and not safe for patients with darker skin colors.

It is rarity to find a Doctor like Dr. Helms these days, where Doctors are usually rushing and only worried about their billable time. Dr. Helms is very knowledgeable and takes his time explaining any issues you have, and is very hands-on. I feel very lucky to have him as my Primary care physician now, especially after having a couple of really bad Doctors before him.

I am Dr. Helm's patient of eighteen years. I have never left his office with any unanswered questions or concerns. He will coordinate this care with my other VA appointments. He is extremely through, spending all time necessary, and insists on all interim reports from the VA. With this help I have been able to stay in good health even with significant maladies.

Dr. Helms has been my PCP for 17 years. I would never think of changing doctors. He is courteous, knowledgeable, caring and always takes time to listen to everything. I just really like him.

Awesome Dr. with great bedside manners. He is firm, informed and always makes time for his patients without rushing them. I don't like going to a Dr's office but the Staff and Dr. are so friendly and easy going. I personally have had no issues and will continue with this Dr. Thank you

Dr. Helms has been my doctor for many years. He has helped me through difficult medical problems, and I am very thankful to God that I have him to take care of my medical needs. He is not only my doctor, but my friend.

To the point and very direct. No nonsense. Contacted my home over the weekend after an appointment to see how I was feeling. WOW!

I first started seeing Helms when I went to the ER with abdominal pain. While they were getting ready to do some type of nuclear medicine test, Dr. Helms suggested waiting a few more days! Thank God he did, as I was in the very early stages of pregnancy! In fact, not even the pregnancy blood test the hospital did came back positive. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't have my beautiful little girl! Fantastic Dr, great bedside manner & even makes personal calls to give test results!
