Dr. Stuart Ronald Sugarman, MD

Comes across initially as a little cold and clinical, but after a few sessions it becomes clear how much he cares. He's fantastically blunt which helps stear the conversations to most important aspects of your treatment and condition. Dr. Sugarman puts time into treatment plans and doesn't use a cookie cutter formula. A great example of this is the way he emphasizes working on therapy, habits, and medication. He puts in work outside of sessions and is willing to listen to any ideas you have. This definitely doesn't mean he'll right any prescription you want. He'll walk you through his thought process for prescribing (or not) any medications. Don't let little idiosyncrasies throw you off, his hair can be reminiscent of Bernie Sanders and he closes his eyes and pauses to concentrate or think through options (he isn't sleeping and he certainly is listening). In short, Dr. Sugarman is a wonderful psychiatrist and he only grows on you with more sessions.
