Dr. Subbu Nagappan, MD

I was referred to Dr Nagappan and man! Thank God for that! He prioritized my health and made sure I was ok. He’s an angel and I’m so grateful for him!

I had a bowel resection done out of the area, and the incision opened. Dr. Nagappan was assigned to me after a six week battle with my insurance to get care locally since the surgery was done in Orange county. He never once examined the wound...a six inch, raw meat, with a hole near the top spewing putrid drainage...but stood at the other side of the room saying in a bored voice, "This will take some time to heal." Then, he'd leave the room. I demanded another surgeon, and praise God, he is treating me with care and competence. It turned out that the hole led to a cavern with massive tunneling. In my opinion, Dr. Nagappan should not be practicing medicine. Period! End of rant.

I had abdominal surgery out of town, and my incision split open and started draining. Worried, I asked my doctor for a surgeon referral. I was given an appointment with Dr. Nagappan. Never in my life have I known a doctor to see a 6" long, open, bleeding and draining incision and not examine it! He glanced at it and said it would heal slowly because of the medication I was taking. (I have had 7 abdominal surgeries with NO complications.) The very same thing happened at my second appointment. Meanwhile, my home nurse is very worried, because of the tunneling and tissue deterioration. Enough was enough! I saw another surgeon who did a thorough exam and took the proper steps to start the healing process. I'm not sure if this doctor is lazy, or simply doesn't care.

I just had my first consult with this doctor, Dr. Nagappan, and he seemed to be in a hurry. I asked him about my gall bladder and he then asked me it was up to me if I wanted it out or not.. I did not leave his office with confidence but a little unease. I know I have to have the gall bladder out because of the pain. I just wanted to know I am in good care and that he will do his very best in this surgery. Should I stay with this 1 star surgeon with 23 years experience or should I look for a 4 star surgeon ?

I can't thank Dr. Nagappan enough for literally saving my husband's life. Due to a huge misdiagnosed by another doctor, resulted in my husband being admitted to the emergency room. Dr. Nagappan is a top notch surgeon explaining everything to me. He is a warm and calm man. Thank you again.
