Dr. Sudha Prathikanti, MD

Dr. Sudha Prathikanti is an integrative psychiatrist who specializes in promoting emotional well being in the face of physical injury, chronic pain and challenging medical conditions. An integrative psychiatrist is a doctor with specialized training in conventional diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders as well as information about the efficacy, safety and application of various complementary therapies for these same conditions. Prathikanti serves as the director of behavioral medicine for the Primary Care Medicine Program at San Francisco General Hospital Medical Center (SFGH) and is assistant clinical professor in the department of psychiatry at UCSF. She also is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with a sub-specialty focus in consultation psychiatry. After earning her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, Prathikanti completed a psychiatric residency and fellowship at UCSF. Prathikanti also has advanced clinical …training in addressing psychological health during key milestones in a woman's reproductive life cycle. She believes emotional wellness results from a balanced life that affirms care of the spirit and is particularly interested in the healing paradigms of Ayurveda, yoga, and Jungian dreamwork. As an emotional wellness consultant, Prathikanti uses both conventional and complementary medicine approaches to restore and enhance psychological well being.
