Dr. Sue Mary Palmer, MD

My son was born in Feb 2008. I was referred to Dr. Palmer for extreme high blood pressure. During multiple ultrasounds I was told an array of disabilities my baby had, including lobster claw hands, dwarfism, missing and misplaced internal organs. Every ultrasound came with a new discovery. She went as far as to have a meeting with my husband and I about having a medical termination of the pregnancy, I was like 24 weeks. Also, I'm not a thin woman, I was borderline diabetic and Dr. Palmer tried to force me to take an insulin shot in her office. When I refused and insisted my husband be present, she told me "Your husband isn't always going to be there for you, so just take the shot". I will never forget this for the rest of my life. I was floored. My aunt was with me and grabbed my arm and we walked out of her office, a staff member ran after me and had me sign a form that I was refusing her treatment. I gladly signed to be done with her. To top off everything Dr. Palmer only… reported to my OBGYN that my baby had clubbed feet and scoliosis, she did not report to her any of the nightmare scenarios she laid out for me and my baby. I continued with my regular OBGYN and controlled my sugars with diet and exercise. My son is a happy and healthy 12 year old now, he did have clubbed feet and mild scoliosis. I would not take my dog to see this doctor, nor would I recommend her to anyone.

I was referred to her for high risk ultrasound during my 2nd trimester. I am a slim woman just turn 35. Everything about me was normal other than my age to consider me high risk. I got to the appt and her nurse began the ultrasound, about 20 mins in my baby girl was not cooperating and not letting herself get measured. the nurse tried every little technique and became impatient frustrated and started to become a little more aggressive on my belly. i giggled a bit because my baby would hide every time the nurse had a good shot and i was scolded by the nurse to not make a move and that even giggling would mess up the shot. After the ultrasound Sue Palmer walks in and starts lecturing me about my shoes (i had flip flops) that i needed something better for support. asked me what I ate in the last 24 hours and told me everything I was eating was all wrong and high in sugar (eating mostly fruits like bananas, watermelon, strawberries) then looked at me and told me i looked overweight and… then made a comment "i bet your family has a history of diabetes " she also told me that Hispanics are known to have it (none of my family has diabetes and I got the feeling she was racially profiling me because i was hispanic) I had gained about 18 lbs and my primary OBGYN said i could gain 40lbs total in the pregnancy and still be okay because i was slim. mind you told me that i needed to lose 10 lbs and i mentioned that my OBGYN told me i was fine ..she then responded "well i havent looked at your chart ..im just looking at you". she didnt even bother to look at my family history questionnaire i had to fill out when i arrived at her office which took me 30 mins!! Me and my husband left so scared ...when we saw my primary OBGYN she reassured me i was fine according to all my labs and numbers...

I had my baby in 2007, when i wss 19, and my experience with her still haunts me. My fiance's mom worked for her, so that's how I came about her. The staff was ok, but once they took blood and turned the needle sideways in my arm, scolded me for it, and accused me of moving. Im scared of needles, so I'm always as still as possible. My mom was with me and said 'No mam, YOU are twisting it, because youre turned around reaching for things you should have prepared beforehand.' It looked like the needle was gonna pop through my skin. silence..Not even an apology. Fast forward- I had my baby, and returned for a 6 week follow up and birth control. I asked for an iud, and Dr Palmer said, 'I'm not going to give you an iud because your fiance is just going to cheat on you.' I was hormonal already, and her comment just devestated me even more. I cried. She tried to back track, but i wasnt having it. Idk who this heffer thinks she is. We were married for nearly 10 years after that. I dont… recommend her unless you want to deal with ignorant assumptions and unprofessional comments.

She’s very dependable and great at what she does. My pregnancy was easy all thanks to God and her.

She respected my view on not wanting to use blood and blood products!

She takes advantage of insurance, gets mad if you do not do what she says. Scares you by automatically assuming you have diabetes. She got upset because I did not agree to inject insulin in my system, my obgyn stated my sugar numbers were fine and I did not need insulin. She is disrespectful and unprofessional. She said I didn't give a shhh about my baby and that she wanted to refuse service to me. I don't care what title you have, you don't treat patients that way.

Takes advantage of medical insurance with un needed testing. EVERYONE is diabetic according to her. And her diabetic teacinng is so outdated, i has to laugh. If the videos (yes vidros not one on one) werent so long and boring and full of wrong information; it would have been like watching a comedy. Then Dr gets upset and will yell/berate/belittle you if you have any questions. Ultrasound tech is nasty, rude, a know it all, rough during scans, and believes she knows more than doctor. In my opinion, Dr is to set in her ways from 20-30 years ago that any new advances/discoveries in pregnancy/conception seem to be to much for her to want to further her medical knowledge. Don't not see this Dr. Ask your OB for a better referral. Pregnancy is supposed to be an enjoyable experience and you shouldn't be made to feel like a criminal.

I would not recommend this Dr to my worst enemy. She completely and utterly ruined my pregnancy! I now seriously question her education & motives. Her staff is great but she on the other hand lacks knowledge and common sense! She believed she saw a severe heart abnormality in the ultrasound and referred me to TX children's..... in the report that she sent over pending my appointment, she stated that due to the severe heart abnormality she suspected that she is certain that termination would be necessary. WITHOUT EVEN SPEAKING TO MY HUSBAND AND I ABOUT THIS OPTION!! After TX children's did the ultrasound, they were baffled as to why she referred me to them! There was absolutely nothing abnormal. My baby girl was born perfectly blessed. I'll never forget how much stress & drama this Dr caused. It wasn't just this... there were so many things that I didn't like... for example unnecessary testing just to take advantage of my insurance. ( implanting a chip to monitor blood sugar???, yea… that didn't happen!!) I ended up going to someone else, but the damage was done and left me bitter. I just could not enjoy my pregnancy after all these doubts were thrown at me because of her lack of knowledge. Seriously DONT GO TO THIS WOMAN!!! besides how can a DR be overweight & offer nutrition and exercise advice??

I'm having my fifth baby. Dr Palmer has seen me through all of my pregnancies.

Dr. Sue is very sweet lady, friendly, and straightforward, also she calls her patients personally which I really like and appreciated. Her staff are very friendly too, they will call you the day before your appointment to remind your appointment.
