Dr. Sujatha Shankar, MD

Worst service ever, no value to patients conditions. Even after clearly telling not to perform service end up charging my insurance and for my daughter's emergency visit first asked to pay for unwated performed services or no appointment. Very bad and rude service, I do not recommend this doctor or her office for your child.

She is an excellent Dr. I have never had issues - wait times are long but that is because the staff tries to accommodate all the anxious parents which is a positive aspect. Highly recommended.

Dr. Shankar is not only incredibly knowledgeable, but she always has the parents and children’s best interests in mind! She can be very honest (no sugar coating here) and I believe that level of communication between doctors and parents of patients is essential!

We went to Dr. Sujata Shankar after being highly recommended by 2 of my colleagues and have no regrets. She is very good with our son. We have been going to her since my son was a month old. We were not very happy with our previous paediatrician. My son had sever eczema and used to cry all night. Our previous ped told that he is not getting enough milk and to start with formula. I knew he was getting more than enough milk but she was not even listening. We went to Sujata Shankar and within few minutes of looking at my son she told its eczema. I'm not sure why my previous ped was adamant on me starting with formula. I'm glad i went to Sujata Shankar.

Been visiting Dr Shankars Office for the past 4 years and happy i moved away from this Dr. People stick to her because she speaks most of the south indian languages. Cons: 1. Dr Shankar is very busy and has no time for patients queries. 2. Minimum wait time 2-3 hrs. 3. Too many patients. 4. Dr Shankar and Saif contradict each other. Once Dr Saif said no infections and i had to see Shankar after two days to only know there was too much fluids in my sons ears. 5. Dr Shankar forgets the previous visit even after viewing her system for patient records. Talks to you as though we come for the first time. 6. Once, they entered their records incorrectly and gave the same shots twice in the same year. 7. Irresponsible office staff. Every time you call them different nurse speaks and puts your call on hold and another person picks up the call and asks why when how where. 8. Follow up appointments for Patients after specialist tests are done as the last appointment of the day(8pm). But… the Dr usually sees you between 9.45pm or 10.30pm. By then the kids become too tired and they fall asleep. 9. She takes money for moving records to a another Dr. She charges $15 for moving my childs records to a new Dr as we were moving out of Metuchen NJ. Pro's: 1. Very Friendly. Communicates to you in your own language. 2. Knows to put shots. 3. You get to meet parents of similar age group. Get to make new friends everytime. Will never recommend her.

If you are looking for a doctor who really cares for your child and is very patient to answer all your queries, Then she's definitely one of them !! She's well mannered, never in a hurry and explains every detail . The only downside was the wait times are very long, around 45 mins -1 hr.

Doctor is very good and friendly but appointments are not easily available and a very long wait time. Only one staff member who wears speaks always says MISS is very rude..

Rude doctor ...She gave us an appointment saying she accepts new patients and next day called and said she does not...while we were there we noticed she was rude to her staff and patients...not kid friendly at all

If you are a first time mom and want to exclusively breast feed your baby, DO NOT go to her. she will never encourage you to breast feed your baby and will always advocate formula. besides that, she is a knowledgeable doctor and knows her stuff. Also, be prepared to wait for more than an hour before you get to her in the office. The appointments there are meaningless!!

Dr. Shankar is the best! She always spends as much time as I need, I never feel rushed! She returns all calls promptly. She is a true blessing to our not only our children but our family. She is a true gem. No other doctor can compare. She has always been right on target with any problem or sickness my children have had. I can not stress what a fantasic doctor she is!!!
