Dr. Sun Ho Lee, MD

Absolutely horrendous. My grandma went to him years ago for a surgery for her neck and wrist. She went back to him a few days ago and he yelled at her and told her to go find another doctor to do her surgery this time around because she couldn't remember doing her wrist surgery with him. First of all, she's aged and it makes complete sense for her to forget some things. I'm so sorry if your ego was so bruised that you needed to verbally attack an elderly for memory loss. Secondly, rather than giving her more options for finding new doctors, he brushed off her questions and told her to go to a bigger hospital and get help there. I spoke with other people who have gone to Dr. Lee after this incident and they have all said that he treats elderly patients with absolute disrespect. Learn some empathy before going in to speak with patients. Disgusting behavior.

Suffering from a ruptured disc between my L4 and L5 where 7/8 of my spinal canal was filled with fluid, partially paralyzing me twice and constant Sciatica. After my second visit to the ER in less then 10 days, the ER Dr gave me a prescription for a MRI and on a second piece of paper he wrote Dr. Lee's number down. Two weeks later I was in recovery at RWJ and fighting with the nurses on the fact they told me I was to get out of bed walk across the room and after going to the bathroom I would be released. Well I assured them they must have the wrong patient be I just got out of back surgery! Oh how wrong I was, lol, I got up and walked across the room and all the pain was gone. 3 Months of recovery and unbelievable, I'm back. Work (carpenter), Sports, chasing my children, other things ailing me now (knees) but my back is stronger than ever. 20 years later I just wanted to say thank you !!! he operated on me and left me with no hearing no balance , hit every nerve in my brain and damaged them all. he got away with it in new jersey, be careful people of California.

I had seen Dr Lee 3 yrs ago and within 3 mins told me I needed a serious surgery without explaining much at all. Very disappointed and did not have surgery by him. Did not make me feel comfortable at all.

Dr. Lee is a wonderful neurosurgeon, I had an cerebral aneurysm over 12 years ago. It was a small congenital difficult to locate bleeding vessel. My first surgeon state that he was unsure that he could find it, which did not give me hope. But with Dr. Lee I felt confident that he would be able to locate it and stop the bleeding inside my brain after speaking with him. Even though he informed by that only 7% of all patient with my illness have no major side effect from the aneurysm. And thank goodness I am in that 7% group. He's the best!

I was diagnosed with an Acoustic Neuroma brain tumor. Dr. Lee took his time with me explained my options and listened to my concerned and addressed them. He never spoke over my head and gave me as much information as possible to do more research. His staff is excellent in fact the quality of his staff is the reason why my daughter became a Medical Assistant . He took great care of me with my surgery and follow up care. I highly recommend him.

Had 4 level spinal fusion in 2008. He was compassionate, honest and technically proficient. Explained what the surgery would entail, how painful it would be and that he would not be able to eliminate the pain but reduce it by 80%. He was right on. I am walking today because of him and will forever be in his debt.

I meet Dr.Lee 6 years ago. I was in terrible pain. He immediately made me feel that there was hope and he could get me back on my feet. He certainly did. Pain was gone right after surgery. He saw me for a full year to make sure everything was good. Now I have lung cancer and am concerned about it going to my brain. I will see no other doctor but Dr. Lee to discuss what I can do to prevent the cancer to go to my brain. I hope he will be able to help me.

I see some reviews are rating Dr. Lee on his personality, I went to him for his skill which is the best you can find. He may seem a little gruff but as you talk to him he shows what a kind man he really is.. I went in 2010 for debilitating nerve pain and having had back surgery in 1972 when I was 16, I was petrified at the thought of another surgery scared me. At first he turned me down due to the complexity of the surgery and no guarantee of a positive outcome. After leaving his office with no resolution I went home. An hour later received a call from the Dr's PA telling me that Dr Lee would take. Me as a patient. Well he did a wonderful job in repairing what he said was "the worst spine he has ever seen" and the nerve pain was gone. I do not care what his bedside manner is but I did care that he was the most skilled surgeon I have ever been to. Today I can walk and I do know people who went to Dr's with great bedside manners and are now in a wheelchair. It is a matter of priorities.… To me he is THE BEST.

This doctor brags about his number of surgeries. His follow-up care is horrible; lack of guidance that result in relapse after a year or so. I cannot recomment this surgeon. BTW, his office staff was most excellent.
