Dr. Sunal Shirish Patel, MD

I had a deeply disappointing experience with Dr. Sunal Patel at Kaiser Permanente Ontario. My initial consultation went well—he spoke with such confidence that I trusted his judgment without researching further or seeking other opinions. He completely downplayed the procedure, assuring me it was simple and that I could go straight to work afterward. However, that was far from the truth. A more responsible surgeon would have advised rest, especially with his claimed years of experience. Instead, I developed a hematoma that left me unable to work for two weeks. The worst part? After my complications, I returned to the hospital seeking him, but he was nowhere to be found. I never heard from him for a follow-up—not even a courtesy check-in. My primary doctor had to step in and apologize on his behalf. That is not the kind of doctor you want performing a procedure. A good surgeon should take their time, prioritize patient care over a paycheck, and most importantly, follow up after… surgery—no matter how minor it may seem. Kaiser has its ups and downs, but in my 35 years as a patient, this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had.
