Dr. Sunbal Zafar, MD

DO NOT go to Dr. Zafar. I was severely constipated for MONTHS and could not properly go to the bathroom. I requested a colonoscopy and she refused and gave me a horribly damaging "bowel regimen". She said that if it did not get better in 2-3 months to call and she would do a colonoscopy. 2-3 months passed and I am doing WORSE! At this point I could not go to the bathroom at all, barely passing any gas, horrible stomach pains, throwing up my food, loss of appetite, loss of weight, extreme bloating, and constant nausea and fatigue. I almost ended up in the hospital MULTIPLE times. When I put this in the patient portal and called it took her 5 BUSINESS DAYS to get back to me. These are literal signs of cancer and other serious problems.... She has someone call and ask me what bowel regimen I have been taking to which I reply, "The one you gave me". How do you not know what you gave your patient? Isn't that supposed to be documented somewhere? Then she has a nurse call me and say she wants… to see me for a consult. I was shocked. Literally at that point felt like a total cash grab just trying to get every last bit of my money because what else would be needed in a consult with these issues and the previous consults? Especially after she told me I could get a colonoscopy if the "regimen" did not work. I explained my concerns to the nurse and she went and spoke with Dr. Zafar about it. A few hours pass and I get a horribly rude phone call from Dr. Zafar herself. As soon as I answer the phone, she starts telling me what I'm "going to do" and how I am going to come in this Friday and get a colonoscopy done. Did not even ask if I could, she told me I was going to. Throughout her passive aggressive instructions, I was trying to ask questions, but she just kept talking over me and would not stop or listen. Without stopping, she told me all the prep that I was going to do and that I was going to go pick up the stuff from the pharmacy and was very condescending and demeaning. She was saying things like, "well we arranged the whole schedule for you.". Maybe ask when the patient is available before trying to force them into a procedure without knowing their availability? I am in a different town for school and I asked if I could call her back, and let her know if I could do it or not because I had to figure out a way to get back in town, and she replied with, "hence why I wanted to do the consult". Besides that being extremely passive aggressive, unprofessional, and rude, I do not know what the point of her saying that was because the consult would have done NOTHING. In all my visits with her she was very short and did not seem to care. I went to a new G.I. doctor today and he said that all of this was not OK and that with all of my symptoms he is so shocked that I haven't had a colonoscopy yet. My first time with this new G.I. doctor, as soon as he hears my symptoms, he instantly tells me he is getting me in for a colonoscopy because it's that bad. Dr. Zafar's lack of care has caused my problems to worsen. I also went to check my patient portal today to pull my old records and I have been erased from the data (has only been 2 days). Very unprofessional and petty. This has been a nightmare and I am praying that my test results come back okay and not turn out to be something serious that could have been taken care of sooner if Dr. Zafar cared. DO NO GO TO Dr. Zafar!!!!!!!!

After 7 weeks of doing multiple tests, Dr. Zafar still hasn’t given me the curtesy of a return phone call. I still have the same condition and she told her assistant that she was going to prescribe a drug that the FDA warned NOT to prescribe to people that don’t have a gallbladder because death has occurred for those people. I mentioned this warning to her assistant and she was aware, but didn’t seem to care and said she would ask Dr. Zafar to call me. However, I still haven’t heard from her a week and two days later. She clearly is more interested in bringing in money from new patients than resolving existing patients issues. Either that or she doesn’t know how to resolve my issue. Clearly not a professional so I do not recommend.

Dr. Zafar is by far the best doctor i’ve ever encountered. She was very receptive to everything i explained to her and was genuinely involved with all of my medical concerns. After my initial visit, I had a procedure done and Dr. Zafar was so wonderful pre and postoperative. Her bedside manner is immeasurable. I truly felt so comfortable with her and highly recommend her. Her staff is super helpful and very responsive.

Very thorough, top notch Doctor and very compassionate.

Was to receive info from the procedure in 2 weeks. For the nxt 2 weeks I cannot get anyone to talk or even answer. Left messages with no one returning calls.

People beware... This doctor does not care about you or resolving your health problems. She lies to her patients & also then lies to other doctors to cover up her own mistakes. When you ask questions, she becomes belligerent & defensive as well. If you value your life, please reconsider using her as your doctor!

I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Zafar and her staff. I always feel well cared for, questions answered, and great follow up. Dr Zafar is truly delightful and treats her patients with utmost care.

Dr Zafar is both knowledgeable and personable. I feel very fortunate to have been referred to her and to have her as my doctor.

Dr. Zafar always takes the time needed to fully explain things. She is very knowledgeable in her field. I've seen her several times now and have never been disappointed.

Terrible doctor that ignores severe symptoms of her patients & refuses to do needed tests. Then lies to other doctors to cover up her own lack of treatment. Beware of this doctor!!!
