Dr. Suneet Bhushan Chauhan

We were referred to Dr. Suneet Chauhan for our NIPT scan, and our experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing. When our report came back with concerning results, we expected the doctor to clearly explain the findings, possible implications, and next steps. Instead, when we asked for clarification, we were simply told to speak to a genetic counselor, with little to no medical explanation provided by the doctor. As patients, especially during pregnancy, we rely on specialists for professional guidance, medical insight, and reassurance during stressful situations. Being redirected without proper explanation felt dismissive and unprofessional. While genetic counselors have their role, a maternal-fetal specialist should still be able to explain the medical context and support patients through complex results rather than deflecting core questions. The genetic counseling we received felt generic and not particularly helpful, which only added to our anxiety during an already… difficult time. Thankfully, we chose to get a second opinion, and everything turned out to be fine. That experience made it clear how much better communication and patient care could have been handled from the beginning. To be fair, this review is specifically about our experience with this doctor and not ChristianaCare as a whole. The hospital staff and overall care from the facility were good and supportive. However, based on our experience, I cannot recommend Dr. Sumeet Chauhan. We expected professionalism, empathy, and clear medical guidance during a critical stage of pregnancy, but instead felt unsupported and inadequately informed.
