Dr. Surender Reddy Edla, MD

Completely devoid of empathy. He did not listen to me or take my concerns seriously.

Never impressed with Dr. Edla, but my last straw was when I went in for severe ear pain and as he was looking in my ear and asking about my recently implanted IUD (this was done by my OBGYN - why did he care?). He did not do anything for my ear pain except tell me to hold my nose and blow out my ears. I'm disappointed to change doctors because I really like the staff at Valley Green.

Dr. Edla seems like he doesn't care about the patient and many times when I've asked him a question he says a lot but by the time he's done talking my question isn't answered. He's got a strong Indian accent and that makes it even harder to talk to him. A specific experience with him (the last one) which was the last straw was I went into his office with genital ulcers, thinking I had Herpes (I later founf out by a different Dr I do not). This is a bit of a long story, please bear with me as this story sums up everything that in my opinion makes him a terrible doctor. Ok, first thing is he did only a culture swab test which can produce a false negative and he didnt explain this. When he was examining me he wanted to look inside of my vagina with a speculum. I was very nervous and scared it would hurt, very emotional thinking I had an STD, but I agreed to it at first. I was crying bc I was so afraid it would hurt (bc the ulcers were very painful to the touch). I decided not to let him… look inside. The whole time I was crying he didn't say anything to me except "I need to see if they are inside". He is very cold. His nurse is very nice and was sympathetic. I got dressed, he gave me a prescription for Zovirax (herpes med). I was still crying a bit when he was writing the script and he did say "Its ok" while he was at the computer with his back turned. He did not tell me what he thought it was, I had to ask him 3 times if he thought it was Herpes bc he kept saying things like "I can't tell without looking inside" or "it could be, have to wait for the test results". He did not discuss the script w/ me or how often to take it, did not tell me precautions to take in case it was Herpes. Herpes can spread to another body part if you touch the ulcer then touch your eye or wherever, and he didnt even tell me to wash my hands if I may have touched the ulcer. He literally told me absolutely nothing about what he thought it might be, precautions if it is, was completely uncaring, and when I asked to have blood tests done of all other STDS his response was,"We'll do that next time." He just got done writing me a script for Herpes medication and wants to wait until the next time I happen to come in to test me for other STDs?! I've not seen him again and aim to review him on as many websites as I can bc he is an awful doctor. His receptionists are very nice, his nurse is wonderful and the whole place is very clean. Those don't affect your health though.
