Dr. Surendra Doijode Rao, MD

I got sick while visiting Hawaii. At Wilcox Hospital, Dr. Rao made a correct diagnosis, even before he could prove it, and he quite literally saved my life. I had a spinal abscess caused by an unusual germ, plus I had sepsis (infection of the blood) and pneumonia, all very sudden. He was caring, kind, determined, smart, and had the best bedside manner of any doctor I've ever met. I would have been dead or handicapped for life if not for his quick thinking and correct diagnosis. I spent 2 weeks at Wilcox Hospital; then he sent me to a neurosurgeon specialist at Stanford he made contact with on my behalf. I was in the Stanford hospital for two more weeks and had 2 spine surgeries there. I took antibiotics for a year. I love Dr. Rao. I will never forget him.

I have been a patient of Dr. Rao for decades. He has been the BEST Doctor that I have had ever. He understood the reason for my chronic Massive Migraines and listened to the symptoms of my seizures as well as my IPV situation at home contributing to my health. He has treated 2 of my 9 children with similar illness and 2 of my 20 grandchildren with same symptoms as well. I recommend Dr. Rao to anyone who need compassion and professionalism at it?s finest. I pray that God will keep Dr. Rao with us for a long time because he has been such a blessing to me and my family for so long. Even with my PTSD and Suicidal thoughts, he did not overmedicate me and send me home, but listen, assess and take care as best as he knew how. I trust HIM immensely.

TWICE did not send test results blood) and diagnostic information (EMG test) to my primary care physician as promised. This caused two wasted follow-up appointments with my PCP.

Dr Rao hates to write a report on his findings. He will tell you to go to Oahu first rather than write a report. I am very disappointed in his lack of service, the hippocratic oath means nothing to him.
