Dr. Suruchi Bhatia, MD

We saw Dr Bhatia for a very minor issue. Our appointment was under 10 minutes whereby Dr Bhatia talked about hormones and then did a very minor exam. There were no issues, no blood work ordered and no follow up appointments required. This was probably the most uneventful medical appointment we have ever had. Dr Bhatia proceeded to send me a bill for $625. She billed this minor appointment as a 60 Minute appointment, when in reality it was 10 minutes. She also classified the appointment as High Mdm importance, when in reality, it was a very minor matter, with no issues, blood work or follow ups. Dr Bhatia, if an honest provider, should have billed this appointment as Low and 20 or 30 Minutes. Upset by this blatant overbilling conducted by Dr Bhatia, I filed a complaint with her office. I wrote her a letter and she completely and utterly ignored it. I filed a complaint with my insurance and they came back with an excuse that Dr Bhatia stated that it was correct. Of course she… did! I then filed a complaint with Stanford Medicine Children’s Health and they also came back saying it was correct. Dr Bhatia is a dishonest, corrupt Doctor who submits her appointments fraudulently. She overcharged and then claimed that she spent the 60 minutes on our case. That is a complete lie and absolutely impossible. Our case was an in-and-out quick conversation. No further work was needed. Dr Bhatia is a disgrace to her profession and a con-artist. It's just sad that as consumers we have no way of fighting these corrupt billing practices. I know, because I tried. STAY AWAY from her unless you want an astronomically inflated bill for very little service.

She was my doctor when I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease at fifteen. I was sad when I was eighteen and wouldn't be able to see her anymore, but she made the transition very easy! She was always friendly, but would also be upfront with all the information I needed to know. She gave my mom her email and would respond to emails very quickly! She is always on top of things. If you have any questions about which doctor you want for you child, no need to wonder anymore! I seriously can't express how amazing she and the staff are.

I've just heard she left Children's Hospital in Oakland, CA. She's been my son's doctor for a few years now and I'm sorry to hear she left. She is amazing and wonderful, so caring and so warm. I wish I knew where she is practicing now.
