Dr. Susan Kay Bezecny, MD

I know that she's already retired a few years ago but we missed a chance to say goodbye to her. She's been my son's pediatrician for 5 years from his birth. She always always thinks about our son first and encouraged & support us to be better parents. We are having a hard time finding a new doctor after her realizing that she was such a great doctor dedicated to her little patients!

Dr. Bezecney had been my brother and I's doctor ever since we were babies, when I was 16, I made an appointment and asked her to prescribe me birth control as my periods were extremely irregular and painful. I mentioned the benefits of acne reduction as well as pregnancy prevention. I also told her I was sexually active but that was not my main reason for wanting birth control. She then went on to tell me that if I took birth control throughout my young adult years, it would be "much harder to get pregnant" later in life and that there would be a much higher rate of miscarriage. These are the exact things that everyone learns are NOT effects of birth control, but misinformed myths!! She then went onto tell me that having sex without dating or being married is degrading and that men must be "worthy" of my body. I felt judged, uncomfortable, and utterly shocked. I have not gone back to her since and do not plan to. She quite literally lied to me about the effects of birth control in… order to prevent me from wanting a prescription. I should be suing her!

We have had nothing but positive experiences with Dr. Bezecny, both with well child checkups and during illness and injury. I have especially appreciated her balanced and common sense approach to the issues we have brought to her.
