Dr. Susan Cavanaugh

I chose to pursue a career in medicine because I wanted to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives during some of their most vulnerable moments. I have always been drawn to both the science behind how the body works and the privilege of building relationships with patients. Medicine allows me to combine problem-solving, lifelong learning, and compassionate care in a way that directly impacts patients and their families. My philosophy of care is centered on listening first. Every patient’s experience is unique, and understanding their goals, concerns, and values is essential to creating an effective treatment plan. I believe in clear communication, shared decision-making, and providing education so patients feel empowered and confident in their care. My goal is not only to treat a condition, but to support the whole person throughout their healthcare journey. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and staying active. I have two golden retrievers, …Sebastian and Samuel, and I love taking them on walks and being outdoors with them. I also enjoy cooking and baking, especially trying new recipes and sharing meals with the people I care about.
