Dr. Susan Debra Elbaum, MD

I showed up on Dr. Elbaum's door after I had a two stroke episode in late 2017. Finding a primary care doctor at such a time was vital for my long term health. She has had me do medical treatments that I thought may have been over the top but in hindsight it was more my reluctance and ignorance that made me think otherwise. She has handled all my medications and she communicates with the other doctors. She doesn't proclaim to know it all but consults with my other doctors if needed (and has), what more can I expect or hope for (nothing if you are keeping score).

As others have mentioned, Dr. Elbaum wants you in and out of her door. She doesn’t appear to care in helping you understand any underlying causes of your health instead will quickly prescribe you unneeded medication. She will also have her assistant send you a message after getting any lab results completed that states “your test results are normal” without explaining test results or identifying next steps to eliminate physical pain. On top of everything, she incorrectly identified a lab test I needed which caused confusion and a delay in getting the lab completed.

I've seen Dr Elbaum several times now. I thought as a previous reviewer had said, that I perhaps caught her on a bad day. Not the case because she's combative & judgmental if you don't agree with her every thought. Additionally she fat shames her patients. There was never a discussion about nutrition or coaching/guidance. It feels like she just wants to prescribe something to you & get you out the door. There is no patient collaboration - her way is the only way - your thoughts/concerns are dismissed.

Many reviews comment that she's a good listener. I found that to not be true. She undermined me when I was trying to discuss something another doctor had recommended. I found her to be short and impatient. I had my 7yo son with me, and she was unpleasant with him as well. I only saw her once as I recently moved to the area, but will be switching to a different primary care provider after my visit with Dr. Elbaum.

Dr Elbaum has treated me for many year and my rating is based on my experience my satisfaction with her consistency over that time. Three years ago my EKG reading were slightly irregular and she insisted that I have an immediate stress. Within 3 days, I had 6 way bypath surgery which probably saved my life.

Dr. Elbaum is a caring and very thorough Doctor. Good listener and diagnostician. I can't say enough good about her.

Dr. Susan Elbaum is an excellent doctor. Unfortunately, I moved and it was too far to travel while working during the week. She is kind and really cares. She is also an excellent diagnostician!

She is empathetic and kind. She really listens and she found out what was wrong with me after 5 other doctors couldn't figure it out. She always seems to get it right.
