Dr. Susan Keasling Evans, MD

Dr. Keasling is not my primary physician, but was able to see me on short notice. She was great. She assessed the situation and wrote me a prescription for an antibiotic. It all seemex to go relatively quick. I would not hesitate seeing her again, if my physician is not available.

About 8 months after delivering my baby I was having some issues in my upper abdonminal region. My regular physician was not available so I was directed to Dr. Keasling. The first thing she said when she saw me was to stop eating processed food and fast food...I am a registered dietitian who happens to be in the obese range since I just gave birth and I never eat at fast food restaurants! An ultrasound was ordered to look at my upper GI region. When they didn't find anything Dr. Keasling ordered a test that included injecting a radioactive dye into my blood to check the gallbladder even though there was nothing on the ultrasound indicating an issue (she told me this herself). I declined this test since I wouldn't be able to breasfeed for 60 hours, and went to see a GI specialist who actually knew what they were doing. I did this myself. Dr. Keasling would not refer me to a GI specialist. Then all of a sudden Dr. Keasling came up with a diagnosis of mild fatty live disease which was… caused from obesity. I took all of my medical records to the GI specialist at MidWest GI who told me that I most likely had a small amount of adipose tissue in my liver becuase I lost 40 pounds in the first 3 months of giving birth and losing weight that quickly can cause the fatty tissue in the liver. She also said she sees thin pepole with the same issue, and that it had nothing at all to do with my weight. Dr. Keasling needs to look into the actual problem, rather than giving her unexperienced and uneducated diagnosis. She also needs to refer to a specialist when there is an issue that she doesn't know much about.

My husband had been referred to her for a follow up after he went to emergency care for a back injury. She was so caring and competent that I decided to switch from my primary care dr to her. She is now mine for the past 3 years

Dr. Keasling is always very kind and very professional with me. I appreciate that she actually listens to what I have to say and takes the time to make an accurate diagnosis... she doesn't rush you out of her office like many other doctors do.
