Dr. Susan Yurgel Hunsinger, MD

Dr. SusanY. Hunsinger was my Matron of Honor when I married my husband. She is an amazing person, and doctor. I worked for her in her home and cared for her children. She’s a lovely woman and I am so glad she found the love of her life. I miss her.

We terribly miss Dr. Hunsinger since she has retired! Our children, now ages 13 and 11, have seen Dr. Hunsinger since birth. We moved from the community when our children were young but we drove over 30 minutes to continue to return to her practice because we had complete confidence in the wisdom and care she provided and knew she was irreplaceable. Dr. Hunsinger is always compassionate and genuinely cares for her patients. She considers each child’s needs and overall well-being when individualizing treatment options. She provides support for families and talks parents through challenging situations and referrals for specialized care. Dr. Hunsinger is very knowledgeable and always on top of the latest medical research information. We always felt like Dr. Hunsinger was an advocate for our children and their well being. Dr. Hunsinger is very thorough, answers your questions and takes the time to get to know your family. She is our favorite, and she is the BEST!!

We have 3 boys and each of them have seen Dr. Hunsinger since they were born. Their current ages are 13, 10, and 8. Our family absolutely LOVES Dr. Hunsinger. Her exams are very thorough and she always address the whole child and not just the presenting symptoms. She discusses the diagnosis and always talks through the treatment options. She also gives prescription alternatives, if interested. She takes her time and we have never felt rushed. Once when I left her office crying after an RSV diagnosis, when one of the boys was 5 weeks old, she called me at home to check on us! That's above and beyond! We miss her dearly now that she has retired!

I would encourage anyone looking for a pediatrician to look elsewhere. When I expressed concern over why a testing referral note that she had recommended had not been faxed, she became extremely angry and was very unkind. It was shocking, and I have never experienced behavior like that from a healthcare provider before or since. As said by another reviewer, every visit included a comment about constipation and bowl cleansing - a fixation that was both odd and disturbing and a concern mentioned by several in the community. She was not well informed about medications and refused to discuss alternatives.

Dr. Hunsinger is absolutely amazing and I am devastated to hear of her retirement! It's wonderful for her, of course, but we've searched for years to find a doctor who understands ADHD in children. Now that we've found her, she is retiring! ;( Best wishes, always, Dr. Susan!

My kids have been seen at this practice for years. We loved her partner Dr. M but after he retired we decided to stay to see Dr. H bc we had seen her a few times for sick visits and people seem to like her. Every time we go to see her she says my kids are constipated and recommends and ungodly bowel clean out that even I wouldn't do myself. She also tries to turn every visit into a mental health consult! For goodness sake my kid does not have anxiety or depression, but you make them second guess life after ever visit. If my kids are sick they want to be in and out not be asked to do depression screenings or if they want the HPV vaccine. And especially not wait for 20 minutes while she types the information she has told just covered or better yet have the nurse come in and go over information you wrote down but didn't go over leaving us more confused than we already were. We have learned if you want to get in and out and have quality care see the nurse practitioner there! She's… amazing, she will get you in and out without making your head spin! And the staff is phenomenal everyone greets you with a smiling face and you can tell they love each other and their patients!

Dr Hunsinger is an amazing pediatrician. She is thorough and knowledgable and understands that there is a human side to the practice as well, offering encouragment and advice to parents. She also always tries to find natural ways to treat symptoms before writing prescriptions.
