Dr. Susan Margaret Ice, MD

If I could give zero stars, I would . I knew her from Belmont way back in 1999. All the above bad reviews are incredibly true. Those were ALL my exact experiences with her 23 years ago. Nothing but cold and arrogant ego. Stay away.

Dr. Ice is a superlative psychiatrist and therapist. Her candor with parents of eating disordered parents is honest and direct, which counters the strong tendency towards narcissism that these parents often exhibit. As such, she is a true witness for eating disordered children who are often subject to the whims of their self-focused and emotionally immature parents. As a previous patient of Dr. Ice's through family therapy, I was able to observe Dr. Ice's honesty first-hand. Unfortunately, the parents of eating disordered children are often pathologically narcissistic. As a result, they are more inclined to be defensive in response to her honesty and resort to routine habits of projecting their own weaknesses onto others. The fact that Dr. Ice is able to bear witness to the true victims of this sort of dysfunctional parenting--the children--marks her as exceptionally courageous and a true advocate for exposing victimization.

Worst bedside manner ever. Arrogant, full of herself, and does only harm and no good. She has no business practicing and should be banned from any and all practice. She made my experience at the Renfrew Center go from great to awful, and my experience with her just added on to the issues I had to deal with. STAY AWAY

If you have an eating disorder, and want to get better don't go to Dr.Ice!!! She is stuck in the stone ages and refuses to learn that there are other SUCCESSFUL approaches to treating eating disorders other than talk therapy. I truely believe she made my child worse and I would never recommend her to anyone. We thought we were getting the best. It took us quite a while to realize that her ego is bigger than her concern for her patients. Others in the field were afraid to take us on as patients for fear of her ruining their career!!!! What kind of doctor installs this fear in their colleagues!? After finally finding another therapist, my child starting getting better in just one month with new therapist. It has been several years now and my child has never been better. I don't want anyone else to waste precious time with Dr. Ice , time that could be spent getting better!!!
