Dr. Susan W Jaffe, MD

I loved Dr. Jaffe at first. She's a nice lady and quick to offer birth control options. However, I've found that her knowledge and expertise is rather outdated. She has cited old stats/information to me about my health, and I've had to do a lot of my own research to fully understand my condition. She's clearly not well prepared to counsel younger women in this generation. We live in a time when women feel empowered to have more sex and have more sexual partners in a lifetime. Yet, the patient education materials Dr. Jaffe gave me typically implied that patients practice abstinence and monogamy, and in a way that made me feel vilified for choosing to do otherwise. Additionally, whenever I DID have health issues, Dr. Jaffe did not do a good job of communicating with me in an empathetic manner. She once told me "good luck" over the phone as she delivered bad news, and then hung up. Shouldn't doctors be your partner in your health? Why would you send me off with "good luck", are you not… going to help me anymore? Well, anyhow, if you're just looking for a quick pap and an rx refill for birth control, Dr. Jaffe is a fine doctor. If you want someone who can meet a modern woman's needs and who can handle complex health needs, find someone else.

I've been seeing Dr. Jaffe for the past 4 years and have always had good experiences with her. She's not the touchy-feely type, but is patient and listens to what I have to say. She's also very gentle during her examinations.

Excellent physician, and bedside manner.

I have had too many bad experiences with Dr. Jaffe, and am extremely relieved to find a new Ob/Gyn. For one, be prepared to wait for a LONG time, unless you are lucky enough to schedule the first appointment in the day - even then the wait could take up to 45 minutes.I completed several Pap Smear exams with her (follow ups) - not pleasant whatsoever. She is the only physician who has made me BLEED excessively during this exam. When I asked about birth control pills, she immediately referred me to Loestrin 24 Fe - without presenting other options or considering my interests (they do not offer generic brands). When I noticed that I did not have a regular period, it took me 2 weeks and 4 phone calls to finally reach her. She prescribed another brand, again, without providing options. Very discouraging.What finally put me over the edge is that she tested me for STDs when I *personally* requested she should not do so - I had completed the same labs weeks ago, and tested negative. There was… no reason for her to retest me for chlamydia, etc. since I had been with the same partner, other than to earn more money from my insurance company. She has shown no respect for me as a patient, and I am extremely disappointed with her approach and services.

I am NEVER one to write a review on someone unless it's positive; however, Dr. Jaffe is the most unprofessional 'doctor' I have ever seen. She is completely judgemental and degrading. If you don't agree with her 'suggestions', don't even waste your time. It's her way or the highway!!
