Dr. Joshua helped me through a serious crisis. The day I reached out for help, she was the only therapist I talked to who actually spent a little time with me on the phone, just asking me about what was going on. This was probably not a big deal to her, since I think it's just in her nature to be compassionate and truly interested in helping people, but to me it meant the world - it was a lifeline that I needed right then. Someone was listening, someone cared. I'll never forget her thoughtfulness that day. Over the next two years, she showed again and again that she actually did care, and was willing to go beyond the textbooks to help me find that path where I could manage my issues. She's very knowledgeable about treating mental health conditions, both in terms of behavioral therapy and medications. But, she's also very well-rounded and can go beyond that into tangential areas such as philosophy and spirituality, as needed (which I did). She's very kind and personable… and a great listener. Many times I would talk at length, while she diligently took notes, and honestly I'd wonder how much she was actually getting of what I was trying to communicate - but then time and time again she would surprise me by responding with a thoughtful and articulate analysis of what I'd just expressed. This showed not only that she'd actively been listening the whole time, but that she'd examined my thoughts/feelings and had made a genuine effort to offer helpful insights and possible therapeutic strategies in return. Dr. Joshua is smart and open-minded, and willing to help you find the answers you need for your situation, rather than just giving you some generic boilerplate advice like some other counselors might do. She has a mini-library of various books which is indicative of her broad and deep interest in helping the whole person. She doesn't see you as just a diagnosis, but as a complex person with a mind, heart, and soul. Her natural human compassion and intellectual curiosity can help you find your own insights and answers, so that you can cope with your issues and get on with life, which in my opinion is really what therapy is all about. To sum it up, I feel very fortunate to have found her when I needed a real professional that could support me through the worst of what I was going through. This review is long overdue but I felt compelled to share it this morning. Dr. Joshua helped me not only survive the most difficult period of my 63 years, she gave me the skills and self understanding to thrive. At the time, three years ago, I was experiencing significant cognition deficits (issues with numbers, charting, thinking sequencing, memory, etc) so I was under medical care and on leave from work for "situationally induced acute anxiety with underlying depression". A week after my first medical visit, I saw Dr. Joshua who did a thorough intake session and immediately gave me helpful counsel, some easy, simple tools, and hopeful encouragement. Her straight forward yet caring and hopeful approach was just what I needed as I was dealing with shock and fear that I might have had dementia or early Alzheimer's. Throughout our nine months together, I found Dr. Joshua to be compassionate, understanding, insightful, and honest. Her creative use of word pictures and great examples… helped me "get" her counsel easily. I believe her counsel and treatment helped me embrace my situation and use it to help me develop improved mental health and personal identity. I gained healthier thought patterns, emotional responses, and mental acuity. Though we are very different types of people, I felt very accepted and understood by Dr. Joshua, especially on the spiritual plane. Through her treatment, in conjunction with outside prayer counsel, I definitely became so much better prepared to follow my passions and dreams in my elder years. Thank you, Dr. Joshua. DSH

I came from another state and reviewed Doctor Joshua before I came in. She agreed to give me the medication that I have been receiving for many years. After my first visit, she did write one, which was a controlled substance. Soon after she asked me to come back in. I asked when she would call in the other meds, she denied in anything. I had to explain to her that yes, I had already picked it up and it was the wrong dose. She angrily fumbled through her papers and said she had forgot to notate it. She suddenly changed her mind and said in the "worst cases" she would never give me the dose I have had for 5 years. She gossiped about other doctors and was deceitful, rude, and judgmental.

I have went to Dr. Joshua several times now and have not received any help at all. She has not given me any tools with how to cope with my condition and she berated me for 20 mins on the phone for money because of a missed appointment due to my illness. I was in shock that she would do that, especially considering my state of mind at the time. I never felt connected to her and always felt worse when I left.

Dr. Joshua is a very gifted psychiatrist. I have experienced tremendous relief from anxiety, depression and thought patterns I was unable to control. She has an amazing depth of understanding and a diverse selection of resources so relevant and helpful to me. Her style is very warm and welcoming. She is a very real person and makes me feel like I am talking to a trusted friend who really understands and wants to help me.I'd recommend her to anyone needing some help. The quality of my life has greatly improved through my work with her.
