Dr. Susan Elise Koch, MD

I’ve never seen a provider that was so blatantly hostile and rude from the second she walked in the door. Waited months after being referred only for this provider to spend less than five minutes in the room and fail to address my concern. I’ve had a history of extensive sun damage in the past and had to have suspicious moles removed as a result (which she wouldn’t know because she didn’t give me an opportunity to speak). I had to practically beg her to take a look at it and she glanced at it for about two seconds (and I’m not confident she was even looking at the right mole), said “it’s just a mole you can go now” and walked out the door without another word! If this does end up being a cancerous mole, she just delayed my care by months while I wait to get a second opinion from a doctor who is actually competent. I plan to report her to the medical board for dangerous, subpar care as she is potentially risking lives with her unprofessional, lazy, hostile care.

Dr. Koch is by far the best dermatologist I've ever seen. I have had many melanomas, and I literally trust her with my life. She is extremely knowledgeable about skin cancer, and spent years working with melanoma patients at Johns Hopkins. The only reason the Portland area is fortunate enough to have her is because her husband took a high-level position at OHSU. She is a hidden GEM of a dermatologist in the Portland area. Just google her... many patients were devastated when she moved away.
