Dr. Susan Lamme Laessig

I first went to Dr. Laessig in 2007 with symptoms no one could diagnose. She was persistent in getting to the root cause--a rare form of hepatitis (CMV). She also has treated me for diverticulitis and I have had a colonoscopy with her. She always spends time with me, talks to me, makes sure I get a follow-up appointment if needed. Her staff are warm and knowledgeable as well.

I went to Dr Laessig as a second opinion for ulcerative colitis that was debilitating and not getting better. She saw that things were not good and immediately scheduled a follow up, but before that time I ended up in the hospital. While the ER was going to send me home with constipation, she insisted on a second x-ray which found that my colon had ruptured. I went immediately in to surgery and had a major 'overhaul' of my GI tract. Though I was now the patient of a surgeon, she continued to visit me and follow up, ensuring that I was getting the care and attention required. She really did save my life that day, and her manner and attention was almost unbelievable.

This doctor did not go beyond the service of a technician. I had an initial consult and I was not physically examined at all. As well, I told the dr. that I was eating a no-fiber diet to stop diarrhea. I was now constipated. Her diagnosis? "It looks like it's [the diarrhea] gone!" Wrong. Anyone eating a no-fiber diet Will Be Constipated. It doesn't correct or diagnose the problem. It's a stop-gap measure. A gastroenterologist should know something so simple and basid.Finally, in mid-conversation, I was walked to the check out and fairly deposited there. No goodbye, no closing statement, handshake, nothing. It was very rude.
