Dr. Susan Elizabeth Lyons, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Lyons for 1 1/2 years. Our first meeting was in the hospital and she was very professional and to the point about my possible diagnosis. During our follow up with her in her office she delivered the news of NHL diagnosis with compassion and care - I can still hear her words "treatable and curable". Her treatment option was spot on, the combination of medication for my particular case was exactly what was needed. She took the time to explain everything that was going on in detail, the treatment options, estimates of how long my treatments would last and even took notes for me when my husband was busy holding my hand for support. She is a wonderful doctor who is very knowledgable in her field and I would highly recommend her if you ever find yourself in such a position of needing a professional, caring and kind oncologist.

Dr. Lyon does not seem to like when the patient or family member asks questions, her replies are curt, to the point of almost seeming rude. She does not make sure the patient fully understands procedures, and never discusses concerns with family members who also are going through a lot of stress on behalf of their loved one.

When you're diagnosed with cancer, your entire world is shaken. Finding the right doctor who not only is competent, but willing to listen and research advancements in medicine is a rare commodity. Dr. Lyons is that doctor. She is always available when I need her, and is a person I would recommend to anyone going through this nightmare of a disease.

Susan E. Lyons, M.D., Ph.D., is a wonderful doctor who was a God-send to our family during a major challenge in our lives. Our oldest son was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the age of 18 and Dr. Lyons was his physician. She is compassionate and knowledgeable and her skill and expertise played a huge role in our son now being cancer-free. She has a great bedside manner and we fully trust her recommendations for treatment and advice she provides.

Dr. Lyons took care of my son while he had non-Hodgkins' Lymphoma. From the very first moment we met her in the hospital, she gave us excellent care. My son recevied treatment actively for about five months. The course of treatment she recommended was agressive but it worked to remove the cancer from his body and allow him to leave for college on time and not have to postpone his college plans for a year. Her treatment plan corresponded with what other oncologists would have recommended. At every appointment, she was caring, courteous and attentive. After treatment was finished, we continued to see her quarterly in follow-up visits. She is always interested in our son, his current activities and our family.

Dr. Lyons is WONDERFUL!! She gives you all the time you need, you never feel rushed by her. She is warm, kind and really knows her stuff. I feel very confident with her care and I would highly recommend her to anyone who would need her services.

On my first visit to Dr Lyons office she took the time to explain my condition and the treatment that she thought would be the the best for me. I was told i had stage 4 colon caner that went into the liver. I was terrified and she gave me hope for a longer future. She is kind and agressive in her field. I would send my family and friends if they needed a oncologist. The office staff has been kind and patient each and every time i had a visit. This office had made my treatment eaiser than i anticpated. I feel Dr Lyons is top in her field.

Staff does not follow through. Private conversations while obtaining appts. Does not return calls, follow up with billing. Discourteous on the phone to family members.
