Dr. Susan P. Magargee, DO

My son saw Dr. Magargee for a sick visit. She checked his breathing and looked in his ears. She then asked me what he eats and decided to make a meal plan for him. My son is a health weight and his size in right on target. She instructed me to double the size of the bottles and make him eat 8 ounces of food as well during every feeding. She continued to over-talk me as I tried to provide details on what he eats. We did not come for a meal plan. She also told me not to nurse him at night saying “he’ll be fine, he is not going to starve”. She never asked if I had any questions or even gave me a chance to elaborate on why we were there. I had to ask her questions as she walked out of the door. Unsatisfied with the lack of care he received, I bought him back the next day and he was diagnosed with an ear infection and prescribed antibiotics. My son suffered for an additional 24 hours because she chose to focus on his food intake instead of the reason he was there.

De. Magargee has been the pediatrician for both of my children during their preadolescent and adolescent years. She has nursed them through the usual childhood diseases like flu, strep throat and mono as well as some chronic issues such as anorexia, arthritis and anxiety. With these chronic issues Dr. Magargee has been enormously helpful in securing specialists and has checked in weekly with our child battling anorexia. She shows a caring and commitment extraordinary to see in doctors today and we are so grateful to her.
