Dr. Susan Gail Margolis, MD

I visited Dr. Margolis for the first time today to check up on a floater and could not be happier. She is quite the professional, very thorough, but not an alarmist. I felt I was in good hands with her and her staff.

The staff is so rude. I felt like I was a criminal. The Doctor is nice but the office is poorly run. I called for a refill never called in no one called me back everyone spoke down to me when I called

I waited 45 minutes for my appointment only to discover that the woman sitting next to me had been waiting over an hour for her appointment. The desk staff was rude and dismissive despite me simply asking for an update on when we would be seen and whether our appointments were in danger of being cancelled since it was the end of the day. I ended up leaving the office without being seen after realizing I would be waiting for at least another thirty minutes. I would recommend you find another doctor.

I never ever write reviews, but like other users on this site I feel compelled to let other people know how terrible my experience at Dr. Margolis' office was. I wish that I would have read these reviews before booking an appointment because they hit the nail on the head. The office is beyond incompetent. At my first visit I was turned away because they had forgotten to put my appointment in the books. At my second appointment, I waited over an hour to be seen. A medicine that the office prescribed required preauthorization from the doctor's office which was never given. After a week I followed up and was told it would be done. It wasn't. I called again and was reassured it would be done. It wasn't. Today I called again and was told that the office was "too busy" to do it. I was shocked. I am a professional myself and I cannot fathom treating one of my clients this way, especially a client in pain who needs medication. If you're looking for an ophthalmologist I would strongly suggest… looking elsewhere.

I was a patient of a few years at the time of this writing, who at this point will no longer be going to this doctor. This is also the first time I have ever written a Yelp review for anything- that is how strongly I feel about this. Dr. Margolis herself individually is a good doctor- helpful, patient, and takes her time to answer any questions you may have. Her personal experience and advice as a physician is not in question. However, her supporting staff (technicians + office/billing staff) is absolutely terrible. I was billed a substantial dollar amount for services not rendered, and the office staff and Dr. Margolis herself told me the issue would be taken care of. However, after a period of several months, the issue was never resolved, even after multiple in-office visits and assurances, and subsequent phone calls. The bill for services not rendered ended up with a collections agency, at which point I was forced to pay the bill out of my own pocket, with no follow-up from… the office of Dr. Margolis. Just a terrible experience. I do not how her office is able to get away with this. After seeing some of the other reviews on here, this does not appear to be an isolated incident. I would therefore definitely recommend to anyone reading this to go someplace else.

Dr. came recommended by former patient and seems to have good credentials; however, my experience was awful. She performed cataract surgery and tried to convince me afterwards that I should be satisfied with the results which left me w/inflammation and blurriness. She was defensive and changed her story as to outcome many times. Her new office at MHMG is chaotic and wait time very long. Staff are rude and it is often impossible to get thru to secretary; calls and emails not returned even to pharmacist. Something is very wrong with her current practice and the setup at MHMG. I cannot recommend this doctor--in fact, run the other way!

i had a 3:00 appointment schedule which when i arrived 15 mins early i was told by her staff that she was not there yet. I later hear her receptionist telling her manager in Spanish that she was SHOPPING!!! They also called her 4 times telling her that patients were waiting sure enough she shows up and 1.5 hr later with a saks shopping bag. i will never go back to her

Dr. Margolis is the wonder woman of corneal surgery; sheâ??s been my doctor for 18 years. And each time I leave her, itâ??s with a smile. She has the patience of a saint with the professionalism beyond the scope of most physicians. Dr. Margolis made a legally blind woman, see how beautiful the world and Doc truly isâ?¦ externally and especially internally. She exceeds any ratings on this websiteâ??s chart. And as for her staff, they are wonderfulâ?¦top billing in every category!

The office was filthy. Really surprising. Her staff is surly. Doctor was thorough but the office was so dirty I was totally turned off and would never allow her to operate on me. Really unpleasant experience.

I've been a patient of Dr. Margolis for more than 10 years. She is obviously a very successful and busy doctor. No matter how busy she is, I never have had the feeling she is rushing me in any way, so I am comfortable discussing my concerns. She has a lovely manner, and she is very thorough and very professional. I believe she's a doctor who loves what she is doing and takes her work very seriously.
