Worst doctor I've ever experienced

I've been seeing Dr. Murphy for almost 20 years, she takes her time and listens and let's me be an active participant in my health choices and doesn't dictate what I need to do. I'm waiting to see where she moved to so I can follow her again.

I work in healthcare and recently faced a diagnosis that put me at risk for developing diabetes. My goal was to lower my blood sugars without taking medications. After seeing several other physicians who put me on medication, I found Dr. Murphy. I found her to be very competent in the treatment of diabetes. Over the course of 6 months she took me off medications and the results of my HgbA1C was even lower than when I was on medication. Dr. Murphy helped me meet my goal of achieving normal levels without the use of medication.

I take care of my elderly grandmother who has been seeing Dr. Murphy for over a year now. She treats her like she's stupid and when my grandma asked for something stronger for her back, arthritis, and leg pain other than the Tylenol she has been taking she told her NO. My grandmother HATES pain meds, so she has to be in an awful lot of pain to ask for something stronger! Today my gma called her to see if she could get a physicians certificate to send to the jury duty board and she was told NO. She has anxiety disorder as well as accidentsome. This doctor has no compassion!

I took my friend to this doctor for several problems after she was put on permanent disability and finally got healthcare coverage through Medicaid. Dr. Murphy repeatedly told her that after her 15 minutes were up, that she had to hurry things along and basically pushed her out the door each visit because she was taking up too much of her time. Plus, despite having all the documentation showing she was disabled, Dr. Murphy refused to sign paperwork that would allow her to get a DMV placard for her car--simply because Dr. Murphy was not the one who she saw for all of the determination visits for her disability. She has no business treating people like that regardless of the reimbursement rate for their insurance. Dr.'s are supposed to be caring and compassionate. If you are looking for that, cross this one off your list. One member of her staff was very kind, but everyone else was rude.

Very rude staff. I made an appointment which is very hard to get always told she is not in or not available. There is never anyone in the waiting room when you go. After I got an appointment at a time they gave me I got called that day and was told the doctor did t see patients at 5:00 and she had orders for me to see another doctor. This office doesn't care about the health of their patients or value them. I will be looking for a new doctor.

Doctor is very thorough. Not many like her who take time with the patient. Listens very well and is concerned about her patients concerns.

My husband an i have been patients of Dr Murphy for the last 13 years, she has been a wonderful careing Dr who has worked with us both for many health issues .she has alwayse had the best bedside mannor and been very concerned with our well being! she recently moved out of the Mooresville office to greenwood and of course we moved with her! hopeing she doesnt move out of state ever would hate to have to move away and leave my family behind to go with her if that happens! LOL , We are truly blessed to have her as our Dr.!!!

I've read the 3 prior reviews. I chose Dr Murphy as she was close to home & work. I have never had a problem with the front office & back office staff. I have found this practice to be very caring, supportive and able to work me in as needed. Dr Murphy does listen and I have never heard any rude comments nor have I been treated badly. I have a complex medical history and Dr Murphy has treated my chronic issues conservatively. She is leaving her Mooresville practice and moving to a Greenwood practice. This will be too far for me to travel and I will have to find another Internist as my pcp. I have no complaints regarding Dr Murphy's care nor any complaints about her staff.

I chose Dr. Murphy because she was close to my home and next to my children's pediatrician. She was my doctor for several years. Over the course of this time, I was disappointed by her and her staff many times. I kept going back, giving her another chance, thinking "Maybe she was just having a bad day." The last straw was yesterday after I had been in a car accident. My mind totally blacked out and I had no memory of the event. Of course, I was VERY scared and wanted to talk to someone who I trusted. I made an appointment and was half an hour late (I misunderstood the receptionist on my appt. time). Her receptionist was very rude and told me I was late and that Dr. Murphy could not see me because "she had other patients." This I understand, but there were no cars in the parking lot, other than my own, and only 1 person in the waiting room. My mother was with me and told them we would wait and that she was very concerned for my well being. Her nurse told her this and asked her… if she would see me, she told her to tell me to go to the emergency room, that she did not have time. At this point, I was crying hysterically, and my mother asked her to PLEASE ask Dr. Murphy to help. Again, she refused. Keep in mind, I was just in an accident, had a blackout, and was now crying uncontrollably.....still NO sympathy and they told me she was just too busy. Hmm....no cars in the lot, no one in the waiting room, and the afternoon before Thanksgiving. I guess she needed to get home to cook a turkey or something. Before this day, one time I was pregnant and had become terribly ill. I called her office to get an appt. and they said they had no openings until the next week. I begged for an appointment, called back 4 times that day to see if there were any cancelations, and told them I was so sick, I was concerned for the health of my baby (my fever was 103). Her receptionist was very rude and told me to stop calling because there was no way I could be seen. I ended up going to the ER and spent over $500. All I ended up needing was an antibiotic. She could have given me that in 5 minutes and it only would have cost me my copay. I have a few other disturbing stories, but won't even go there. Her staff is always very rude and Dr. Murphy has proven to me time and time again she does not truly care for her patients. I am a very forgiving person, but in this case I guess I have been too forgiving. I very much regret keeping Dr. Murphy for as long as I did. I highly recommend you DO NOT choose this doctor.
