Run, don't walk from this place. They will drill your teeth unnecessarily. My wife was told she needed to have a cavity filled and when she consulted with another dentist, he said there was no evidence of any tooth decay. I had perfect teeth, and Susan Patel convinced me I needed to have my teeth filled. I had virtually PERFECT, cavity free teeth and now I have unnecessary fillings. THERE WAS NO CAVITY OR EVIDENCE OF DECAY! I should be suing her but of course this sort of thing is difficult to prove, since whether or not being overly aggressive about treating "possible" future decay probably falls within the realm of professional discretion. They have some stupid imaging machine which apparently shows the thinness of the remaining tooth enamel, and from that, they suggest a tooth should be filled because it is "close" to facing decay, though the tooth looks fine from the outside. Well, do the research on the internet first folks. If there is no evidence of decay, it is better to… just wait and watch it, because once you drill and fill a tooth, there will be a need for maintenance in the future. Also, do the research about whether the fluoride treatments are really necessary. Many professionals feel most people get enough fluoride from tap water and toothpaste. Unless you have really weak enamel, it is just an add on which is not covered by insurance. It's just another way for the dentist to make more money from you, and this part comes out of your pocket, not your insurance. There's a reason why insurance does not cover fluoride treatments... they must feel it is of marginal value. At Dr.Patel's office, they don't really even ask you if you want fluoride treatments. It is like a presumptive close in sales. They make it seem like a necessary part of your 6 month maintenance, without stating up front that it is not covered by insurance. A friend of mine told me that she was also coerced into unnecessary and expensive dental work by Susan Patel. It is hard to trust someone when they have a vested financial interest in doing work on your teeth, even if it is unnecessary. Ever wonder how Dr.Patel affords that very nice expensive car she drives? No, this is not my real name, because I don't want them retaliating for this bad review, but I certainly WAS a patient of Susan Patel, and have not gone back despite their repeated calls to schedule me for my 6 month check up. Do NOT choose a dentist based on a mass advertising mailing stating a cheap price for initial visit and free xrays. That is a way to lure you in, so they can then fleece you.
