Dr. Susan Perez

Sue Perez is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 7 years of experience in the mental health field. She believes that her role as a therapist is to help you uncover the unmet needs behind your emotions and actions and to provide tools for helping you acknowledge, attend to, and speak for those needs. She has experience in doing this kind of work with people of all ages who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, family/relationship, and behavior issues. She is a therapist because she has a passion for providing a space where people can truly be seen, heard, and understood. She works with individuals, couples, and families. She is bilingual in English and Spanish. She invites you to come share your story with her. Sue completed her Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Central Connecticut State University. She has worked in a variety of mental health settings including outpatient, intensive outpatient, home-based, and private practice. …Sue is a wife and mother and has raised her family in a bicultural environment with her spouse being from the South American country of Colombia. These professional and personal experiences have shaped who she is as a person and as a therapist. Sue brings a very down-to-earth and realistic approach to working with her clients and she has a passion for meeting her clients where they are and building collaborative relationships with them. She has Level 1 and 2 training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. Sue believes that she is the guide in the therapy room while her clients are the experts in their own lives and with support can find what they need to move through their struggles and challenges to reach all of their goals. Being a therapist has made Sue realize that all of us no matter our age have basic needs to feel seen, heard, and understood and to have connections and meaningful relationships with others. When these basic needs are not met in the way we need them to be, due to our individual life experiences, this is when we begin to struggle with feeling stuck in life and acting in ways we don't fully understand. This affects us as individuals and in our relationships with others.
