Dr. Susan Lisker Powell, MD

I was born and raised in the Philadelphia area but my home is now the Pacific Northwest, where I have lived since 1990. I am married with four young adult children, whom my husband and I adopted from India. As the daughter and granddaughter of physicians, I was interested in medicine from a very young age, but explored other options before finally deciding to go to medical school. Following college, I taught high school for two years in the Peace Corps in Kenya. After returning from Kenya, I taught for two more years in inner-city New York in a program for newly returned Peace Corps volunteers, and, in the process, met my husband, who had been a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal. I then decided to attend the University of Washington for a master_s in public health and subsequently for my medical degree. I did my family practice residency in Anchorage, Alaska.
