Dr. Susan Marie Purcell, MD

Dr. Purcell has been my primary care physician for about ten years. I saw a few other doctors in the practice before my first appointment with her, and after a few office visits knew she was the right fit for me — she’s always thorough, genuinely interested and compassionate, knowledgeable, and, most importantly, is someone I trust. After a few years of seeing her for routine yearly checkups/“sick” visits, I was diagnosed with a life-changing, chronic illness. Dr. Purcell and her staff (including excellent nurses) walked me through every step of managing my new reality, and was always available if I had a question or was experiencing any problems. No other physician has ever contacted me personally to check in or answer what are (probably for her) routine questions. Her attentiveness and kindness made all the difference as I slowly but surely adjusted to the changes my illness necessitated in everyday life, and I’m happy to say that today I am healthy and able to manage things… without any major problems. All of the practitioners and staff at Peace Valley are competent and professional; Dr. Purcell, however, goes above and beyond in a singular way. I cannot recommend her enough.

Both my husband and I are patients of Dr Purcell. We think the world of her. She takes her time during each appt, and really wants to understand and dig deeply into any issues, always looking to find solutions to improve your health. She won’t automatically rely on adding more meds as the answer to everything, either. Dr Purcell suggests lifestyle changes first, when appropriate. She is highly compassionate with great warmth and kindness. Her staff is lovely as well. I saw another review from 8 years ago which was critical, and have to believe that reviewer was commenting on a different Dr Purcell because there is no way it was this one! (There happens to be several doctors with the same name in the US...this Dr Purcell is in Doylestown, PA.) I’ve recommended many other patients to her practice and they love her as well. It has taken me years to find a primary care physician that I respect this much. My husband and I feel quite fortunate to have found this lovely… doctor!

Dr Purcell has been my doctor for at least ten years and I would recommend her to family and friends. She is thorough and easy to talk to.

She is standoffish and cold. Her nurses are the same and barely make eye context. I'm sure she's a good doctor but has a poor bedside manner and personality.

My mother is an extraordinary 96 year old. Dr. Purcell has the complete rtrust of Mom and will follow her guidance like no other.Unlike many health care professionals, it is clear that Dr. Purcell "sees" Mom not as an old person but the unique person she is and Dr. Purcell's prescriptions are always knowledgeable and sensitive.Thanks to her and her staff!
